Grades are important to most students. Some students, though, are much more concerned about grades than others. Even the difference between an A- and an A can be a big deal. Here are a few signs that you are a student who lists grades as a top priority:
1. You spend free time studying
In other words, free time does not really exist. You take a break every once in a while, but you are willing to sacrifice fun for studying and homework when necessary.
2. Extra credit is a blessing
Even if you already have a good grade in the class, you jump on every opportunity to do extra credit.
3. You go to office hours
They might not be necessary for every class, but there is no denying that getting to know your professors is helpful.
4. Your professors know your name
Even if you don't go to office hours, you participate in class and ask questions afterward. You probably send the occasional email, too.
5. You try to pay attention in class
I should emphasize the word "try" because there will always be classes where even the best students start to fall asleep.
6. Sleep is sacrificed when necessary
Getting proper rest is essential for both health and academic performance, but late nights are expected from time to time.
7. Finals are a nightmare
Finals are probably a nightmare for all college students, but the pressure is especially high for students desperate to keep or reach a good grade.
8. You check your grades obsessively
Did the professor grade the midterm yet? Is the essay grade online yet? What about the last group project? Questions like these are always in your mind.
9. You don't count B's or C's as good grades
You know they are not that bad, but when you get them, you always wish you had an A.
10. Breaks and summer vacation cannot come soon enough
College can be fun, but it is impossible to study nonstop. Winter break provides relief, and summer vacation is the ultimate reward for a long school year of hard work. That is unless you have a full course load for the summer semester.
