So, you may have heard people say that you can't be your child's friend if you want them to respect you, am I right? I have actually heard my friend's parents say, "I am your parent, not your friend." I am here to ask the same very good question that the little girl in that taco commercial asked:
I know firsthand that we can have both and chances are you do too if you're reading this. So, here are 11 signs your mom is your best friend!
1. You call her about everything.
Whether it is just to chitchat, talk about your current life crisis, or calling her because you’re sick and you looked up your symptoms on Google and you are so sure you’re dying. When she doesn’t answer, you end up calling her 100 times in a row until she does. You know, just to make sure aliens or something didn’t abduct her because why else wouldn’t she be picking up! You are her whole life, so there better be a good reason!
2. Boundaries don’t exist.
If anyone who doesn’t understand you and your mother’s relationship heard someone of the things you guys say to each other, they are usually at a loss for words in regards to what they just heard you say to her. They would never say (let's go with) questionable statements or curse in front of their mother, but you and your mom both know they only reason you do is because you learned from the best. Compliments are also a whole different ball game, like, “Dang girl, you’re looking FIONE!”
3. You’re always tagging each other in weird Facebook posts.
Facebook is full of the craziest stuff recently, and you better bet I’m tagging my mom in that video of a cat in a sink wearing a wizard hat. If I saw it and almost popped a blood vessel laughing so hard you better believe my mom is the next to see it. Always.
4. She is the person who you have the weirdest conversations with.
People sometimes would think you two were on drugs with how weird you two are. The weirder conversations usually stem from inside jokes you guys have or is an attempted to embarrass each other. Personally, I usually win that one. I am pretty weird and embarrassing.
5. You can never stay mad at each other.
When you guys fight, it lasts for like five minutes until one of you two makes the other laugh at something. It’s just in your relationship’s nature, you can’t help but act like big dummies with each other and the laughter is inevitable.
6. You guys are always honest.
She is the first to tell you’re acting like a ding-dong or that your eyebrows need a little help because they most certainly aren’t on fleek. You are also the first person to let her know when she needs to take off those mom jeans and put more flattering ones on or that she, in fact, is the one being a ding-dong.
7. You guys are basically them same person.
You are a spitting image of your mother and everyone knows it. The best part of it is, it’s the best compliment ever. Your mom is the greatest person ever, so that means so are you! It’s basically a win, win situation.
8. You would do anything for each other.
When I say anything I mean anything. Matching tattoos? Heck, yeah! One of you guys needs a DD? The other one has got your back no matter how disappointed they are. One of you have a really bad wedgie that needs to go? The other one stands behind them blocking “the view.” Need Taco Bell at midnight? You got each other. There is nothing better than bonding over heartburn at two in the morning.
9. People are jealous of your relationship.
Everyone who knows you two thinks your relationship is great and that your mom is the coolest. People have probably told you that they wish they had a relationship similar to what you guys have and well, you can’t blame them. You and your mom’s friendship is amazing.
10. You guys always want to be together. Quality time is the best time.
Being around your mom is a blessing and not a curse. She knows not to even leave to go next door without asking you to join because you guys are a two-for-one deal. She is who you have the best times with, and you never get too tired of being with each other. You cherish the quality time with your mom like a cat cherishes a full bowl of food.
Remember all your mother had given up for you and make sure you let her know you love her more than anything. I love you, Mommy. Thank you for being you. Happy Mother’s day to all moms and double-duty dad’s out there!
