In life. we all go through parts where we may get a little lost along our way. Sometimes we are withdrawn creatively, sometimes we have been detoured from our dreams, and other times we just need some good ole advice from a friend. Honestly, we’ve all been in these situations and if you haven’t well you’re one lucky person, but eventually you will find yourself here at some point in life. Whenever I’m starving for some inspiration or need a little guidance, I enjoy finding some motivation to get me up from point A to point B. I tend to take to the internet or literature to find a quote that I think fits in my life during that time to steer me in the direction I want to be in. Eventually I write to-do list for myself on how to get myself there, and with time, I change my life enough that I no longer find myself stuck in the rut I found myself in. Over the years of constantly doing this routine, I started writing list of quotes I wrote myself that I think could potentially help someone else reflect about a moment in their life, and hopefully guide them along their way too. So as you can see, here are ten life rules that I wrote that, with fingers crossed, will inspire and motivate you to step out your comfort zone, maybe change up old habits or just see life a little differently.
1. Always say yes when an old friend calls you to meet up.
2. People love to speak, but most of all they love to be heard.
3. All people are honest just sometimes their honesty isn’t seen through their words, but in their behaviors.
4. History is actually written by everyone. It is up to you to find those that have been lost in the depth of the piles over others’ stories so their story is told too.
5. A moment is always internally endless, but constantly escaping in time. Live in the escaping of time, but cherish the internally endless.
6. Your heart can be knowledgeable, and your mind can be heartfelt.
7. Always listen to your opponent’s side of the story no matter how much you disagree with them or dislike them. Your opponent will teach you something not only about themselves and their way of thinking, but also about your side and your way of thinking.
8. Touching the stars is not impossible, unless you tell yourself that you’ll never be tall enough to.
9. Dreams are not goals. Dreams are not part of your to-do list. Dreams are not errands. Dreams are your drive, your purpose, and your livelihood. Your drive, your purpose, and your livelihood should never be easy, but they should be worth it.
10. Last but certainly not least, my favorite life lesson can’t be said in my own words. Only in the words of another writer:
“Our life is defined by opportunities, even the ones we miss.”
–– Eric Roth in the screenplay of "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"
