10 Rom-Com's You'd Be Stupid To Miss Out On

These hidden gems may not be the most famous romantic comedies, but they are wonderful.

I am a self-proclaimed rom-com expert. I have endured my fair share of cruddy movies...just ask my friends about the time I made them watch ‘Triple-Dog’ aka a mistake I can never apologize enough for.

For the most part, though, I am pretty fantastic at finding random rom-com's to watch. My friends come to me when they want a random, feel-good, usually made in the 90’s flick to watch. If my friends trust me then I guess you should too. Here are rom-com movies you seriously NEED to watch.

1. LOL

Miley. Miley Miley Miley. Pre-2013 Brittany 2007 moment, this movie shows Miley in her prime. It also has a WAY too attractive male lead, who BONUS has a British accent IRL. This movie had a good run on Netflix but was sadly taken off. It is everything a rom-com should be, though. It goes something like this: "Boy likes Girl. The girl is dealing with some underlining issues and refuses to let the boy in. Girl and Boy get into a huge fight but will obviously make up." Throw in a trip to Paris, a romantic montage, and a nerdy friend and you have yourself a pretty great rom-com.

2. It's A Boy Girl Thing

Another rom-com tragically taken from Netflix too soon. The first time I watched this movie I was a hopeless romantic 15-year-old on a summer vacation with my family. When I got home I forced my best friends to watch it which led to me being crowned, “Queen of finding random romantic comedies”. If a rom-com has a popular football player and a nerdy girl hating each other you know it’s going to be a classic. Basically, they get cursed on a school trip and their bodies/souls switch. As they have to deal with each other's daily lives they start to understand each other a little better. You know how it’s going to end, but it is well worth the ride.

3. She's All That

90’s rom-com's are my drug of choice . Freddie Prince Jr. in his prime? Yes, Please. Once again you have a nerdy girl and a popular football player—so classic, right? There is a bet made between bratty friends involving the most popular boy in school getting the nerdy girl to attend prom with him. The fashion is great, the dialogue is witty, and you are going to snap your fingers in a z formation at least once—the 90's were so sassy.

4. So Undercover

Miley Cyrus, you are killing my rom-com dependent heart. Honestly, I had to BEG my friends to let me rent this from the Redbox our senior year of high school. Jokes on them, though, because they ended up loving it. Miley Cyrus is a motorcycling riding, crime fighting, kick-butt chick who has to infiltrate a Sorority house in order to solve a mystery. Listen, the first time I saw ‘The Sixth Sense’ I guessed in the first 15 minutes that Dr. Malcolm Crowe was dead, so believe me when I say that I can usually call plot twists. With that said, this movie surprisingly had some pretty rad plot twists. I mean as rad as plot twists can be in a rom-com. Editor note: You can't beat the twists in 'Crazy Stupid Love'.

5. The Frist Time

Three words: DYLAN O'BRIEN SHIRTLESS. 17-year-old Rachel really appreciated Dylan O'Brien. I still do, honestly. This movie takes place in the span of one weekend and follows the story line of a crazy connection two strangers from different high schools have when they meet at a party. One of the movies main plots revolves around Brit Robinson’s character, Aubrey Miller's, 'frist time'. It’s not one of those gross, hyper-sexual teen movies, though. I swear. My friends would not enjoy it at all if it was. It has some pretty amazing, ‘I wish a boy would say this to me’ worthy quotes in it as well.

6. After The Ball

It’s not even PG-13. It’s PG and this 20-year-old chick still loves it. Kate Kassell just graduated from a fashion institute in NYC but she can’t score a couture fashion job because her father owns a huge, designer stealing company in Canada. In classic 'Snow White' fashion, it’s not her father who is corrupt it’s her step-mother and her two step-sisters. She must find a way to save her family company and make a name for herself as a designer. It’s basically a mixture between 'Cinderella' and 'She's the Man' but fashion focused.

7. Sydney White

I don’t care if she went crazy, Amanda Bynes is one of my favorite rom-com actors ever. This girl gave us ‘What A Girl Wants’ ‘She’s the Man’ and the TV show ‘What I like About You’. How can you not love her? Sydney White is Snow White if Snow White had to deal with a crazy Sorority President instead of the Evil Queen, 7 dwarfs who were nerdy outcasts instead of miners, and a Prince who has a lot more charisma than the original. It’s currently on HBO GO and I would be lying if I said I didn’t watch it last night instead of writing this article.

8. Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List

Ok, if we are being honest, my best friend Meredith found this gem. But it says something that she immediately texted me and told me I HAD to watch it. Naomi and Ely have been best friends for years, but what happens when they start to battle over the same guy? Oh yeah, Ely is gay and Naomi is secretly in love with him. Can you say drama?

9. The Fundementals of Caring

This is probably the best written one of the lot, so it’s no surprise that it was originally a novel. My parents enjoyed it and that’s saying a lot because they usually hate my choice of romantic comedies. Selena Gomez and Paul Rudd are in this movie so if that doesn’t convince you I don’t know what will. Side note: The lead boy, played by Craig Roberts, makes my heart pound a little faster. Ever since I first layed eyes on him in ‘Submarine’ I have loved his sense of sass, wit, and face... Paul Rudd’s character is dealing with some dark crap—don’t worry they will explain why—forcing him to deal with his issues by becoming a caretaker for a boy who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The boy is sardonic and inappropriately hilarious . It’s a Netflix Original, and when have those ever failed us?

10. Stuck in Love

Please, someone, for the love of God, give Nat Wolff more screen action. Also, Logan Lerman is in this? #Bless. This movie focuses on a father and his two kids who are all dealing with relationships and heartbreak. The father, played by the amazing Greg Kinner, is a writer and so are his two children. The writing of this film is well-done and I seriously recommend watching it before they take it off Netflix (They took it off for 24 hours and then brought it back, so who knows when this brilliant movie will be leaving us.)

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
