The only thing better than having a Cristina to your Meredith, a Monica to your Rachel, a Brooke to your Peyton, or a Tina to your Amy, is having 20 of them on one floor. Making friends with the girls on my hall was the best (and possibly only good) decision I made my freshman year. They're my best friends and soulmates, and I wouldn't trade them for the world.
1. You always have someone to go to freshman firsts with.
You will have at least one person to cling to for your first awkward dining hall experience, first walk to class, first party, and first all-nighter in the library.
2. Every night is the best slumber party you've ever been to.
For the first week, you probably won't sleep at all because you don't want to miss the serious heart-to-hearts, movie nights, or pranking wars that are bound to happen. After a few weeks, you'll forget what falling asleep in silence is like.
3. You have twenty closets to choose from when yours seems empty.
When you realize you have no shorts to match that super cute top you just bought, there's a good chance one of your hallmates has them in her closet, in your size.
4. You have a second opinion on every outfit... and a third, fourth, and fifth.
Imagine you're on the runway at the hottest fashion show of the year. Except it's Thursday night and you're going downtown for the third night in a row.
5. You have someone to help answer all your questions when you go to your first college party.
Don't be the freshman that asks the host whose party you're at.
6. No problem is too large for the group to solve.
For every life crisis, fashion emergency, and relationship issue, there is a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, and a pint of ice cream in somebody's mini fridge.
7. When you're feeling down, your hallmates are there to help you pick yourself up.
Whether you feel homesick, fail an important test, or had the worst day of your life, you can come home to your hallmates who will reassure you that you're not alone.
8. You always have someone to work out with.
When the mood strikes (once a semester) and you feel motivated to exercise, there's always someone to drag along to the gym to be your workout buddy. It will probably be good for both of you.
9. When you go out in public, you can make fun of the same people without having to say a word.
You and your hallmates will start to use telepathy (or a group message) to make sarcastic comments about everything and everyone. Because what brings girls closer together than a mutual dislike for someone?
10. You have a go-to person for any incident that could ever happen in the history of the universe.
If you wake up in a trailer miles away from campus, you know they'll help you find your way home. If you accidentally get kidnapped and end up in a stranger's apartment, you know they'll send for backup. If you really just need Jimmy John's pickles and day-old bread, you know they'll run to the store for you. If you get the urge to have a 3 a.m. dance/karaoke party, you know they'll sing all the words with you. At the end of the day, there's no better feeling than knowing someone always has your back.
