10 Reasons Why Your Older Sister Is Your Best Friend

Okay girls, I get it. Having an older sister isn’t always a walk in the park, but at least we’ve got someone that would take us to the mall to get our nails done and do a little retail therapy! Your older sister will end up being your best friend before you even realize it and here is why:

1. Even when they won’t let you, the two of you will always end up sharing clothes, shoes, and accessories. Plus, hand-me-downs are a great bonus!

Come on it’s like having a second closet!

2. You get their old school notebooks and textbooks.

This is great because if your older sister left a great impression on your teachers, they already like you! Also, you get those answer key homework assignments you never thought would be there!

3. You’ll always have someone to annoy.

As a little sister, it’s our job to get on our older sister’s last nerve. But who doesn’t love us?

4. Your sister will tell you like it is.

Tough love is something I live by and my sister is blunt, straightforward, and always knows how to put me in my place. Even when I don’t want to hear it, she’ll always be real with me.

5. She will always have your best interest at heart.

Sometimes you won’t understand why your older sister does what she does, but believe me it’s for a good cause. They have more experience! They’ve been through everything us young gals have seen and they just want to prevent us from getting hurt or going down a “bad” path.

6. She wants to your best role-model.

Because we look up to our older sisters and admire them very much, they have the opportunity to lead by example fully aware of the fact that they’re decisions influence us as well.

7. She’ll give you the BEST advice.

Okay, honestly if I’m making a decision, I usually run it by my sister because she’s honest, direct, and knows what’s best. They understand and bestow their wisdom from outfit ideas, school projects, to drama, boys, and life in general.

8. She’ll always remind you that everything is going to be okay and boost you up when you’re feeling down.

Having a rough day? I know my sister always finds humor in everything and her attitude and words give me the push that I need to be optimistic. If she inspires you and is leading you on the right path, your older sister is clearly doing something right. I know for a fact that my sister is.

9. She’ll motivate you to be better.

Your older sister wants what’s best for you. She wants you to be the best that you can be and even though she might be a bit harder on you, it’s only because she knows you can get through anything and be the best possible little human being ever. Have faith in the hope your older sister has for you.

10. She will always be there for you.

At the end of the day, it’s true what they say: All we’ve really got is our family. Your older sister will be there through thick and thin, good times and bad, no matter what. They’ll tell you that they’re proud of you and will push you to accomplish things you never thought were possible. They will always love you because honestly, they don’t have a choice.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
