The time has finally come for us to head back to our home away from home: UCONN! Some of us have already arrived, and others don’t move in until next weekend. No matter what, we all have one thing in common, and that is that we cannot wait to be back!

  1. Food Delivery until 3 a.m.: Whether that means Ted's BBQ Chicken and Onion Ring Pizza (and it does), Wings Over, Insomnia, DP Dough, Husky Pizza or the million other places to order your favorite drunkies, there is always something! And it’s always good!
  2. UConn Dairy Bar, which of course is everyone’s favorite or if you don’t feel like spending money you can always settle for “Free” ice cream at the dining hall.
  3. The Student Union: For my friends and I it’s mostly the taco salads and mac n cheese, while sitting at a high top talking, gossiping and people watching for hours.
  4. Nickel: There’s nothing in the real world compared to nickel! What beats cheap drinks with friends and good music? Yup, nothing!
  5. Tailgates and Dartys: this is pretty self explanatory, who doesn’t love partying outside, whether it is to celebrate a football game or just because it’s the weekend or hell maybe even a Wednesday? UConn is always game for a good darty.
  6. Freedom: AKA no parents to tell you to get out of bed and stop watching Netflix, or to clean your room, or to go to your class.
  7. Studying on 3N in Homer: which we all know really means fooling around and talking with your friends instead of getting your work done.
  8. The Scenery/Atmosphere: From runs on Horsebarn hill, to lying out by mirror lake. No matter where you are on campus (besides north dorms) there’s beauty all around (including all of our student body).
  9. Sushi at Oriental: OK so maybe you don’t like sushi, but we all love going to Oriental with our friends whether it be for food, or drinks.
  10. Friends: if you are lucky enough like me you have some incredible friends at UConn who will always have your back and always be down to do some pretty crazy and sometimes weird things along with all the things on this list!

*Moment of silence for all of the good memories from the past school year.*

Now cheers to the ones we are all about to make this year! Only a few more days till we are back! The final countdown is on!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
