Why You Can't Get Enough Of Shameless
Just Watch

Who doesn't love a new series that you can shamelessly binge every night on Netflix when you're taking a "short" homework break? We're all looking for something we can relate to but is honestly a little crazier than our own lives. Shameless is the craziest, most outrageous show that I guarantee you won't be able to get enough of.

1. You're emotionally attached to the characters

They're reckless, loud, crude and can't seem to stay out of trouble...but you love all the characters, even the ones that come and go (Well, maybe not Frank).

2. Just when you thought it couldn't get any crazier...

It does. Jimmy/Steve coming back, Fiona keeps getting married (or trying to), Sheila's sexual habits are a bit crazy, Liam has a near death experience, Mandy's vehicular manslaughter attempt, Kev sleeping with V's mom, Lip and his professor, literally everything Frank does...the list goes on and on.

3. It addresses mental illness and how it can be managed.

While the show briefly showed Monica's manias and suicide attempts, we have a better insight into Ian's struggle. Ian is able to work through his manias, even after being institutionalized. It shows a different side to mental illness than what is usually shown on TV. Instead of letting his newly diagnosed illness hold him back, Ian fights for what he wants and gets his life set on the right path.

4. Gender identity and LGBTQ representation.

The show continually showcases gender and sexuality. First of all, Ian and Mickey. Who doesn't love them? Mandy's half-sister was raised as a girl but is biologically male, Kevin and Veronica end up in a polyamorous triad with a Russian sex worker and Ian ends up dating Trevor, a transgender man.

5. Addiction is real.

Addiction is a theme that runs through all 7 seasons of Shameless. Frank's addiction to drugs and alcoholism is the root of most of the Gallagher family's problems. Fiona has a small run in with drugs, but her real addiction is sex and it continually ruins her relationships. Lip follows in his alcoholic father's footsteps and Carl even takes a swing at dealing. It highlights the massive problems that come with addiction and how it can run in the family.

6. Fiona!

Even though she messes up like everyone else, Fiona kicks some serious ass. She's often the most responsible Gallagher and she raised all of her siblings, despite having two absentee parents. Over and over again, she keeps the family afloat and works several jobs. She's strong, independent, and, eventually, learns to take care of herself. Hell yeah, girl power.

7. You can feel their heartbreak.

Mickey and Ian are a roller coaster of emotions and I'm sure you miss Mickey as much as I do. Jimmy/Steve broke Fiona's heart too many times and Debbie's mess of a love life is too much to handle.

8. LIP GALLAGHER.

Need I say more?

9. Kev and V.

They may have gotten a little more complicated when Lana entered the picture, but you can't help but love Kev and V. They're honest, they know each other inside and out, they have fun, and they're so in love even you might feel a little jealous.

10. Even though it's chaotic and dramatic, you can relate.

Death, sex, love, heartbreak, familial conflict, college, work, money trouble; we've been through it all. Shameless may be a little crazier than our daily lives, but it feels like home.

I trust you. That's bigger to me than "I love you".

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
