According to Webster's Dictionary, the definition of mother is a female parent with maternal tenderness and affection. However, I see the word "mother" as more complex than this. I have been blessed to grow up with an amazing woman to call my mom. She is loving, compassionate, trustworthy, firm in her faith and all I could ever hope to be. My mother is the reason I am where I am today. She got me through the struggles of high school and pushed me to be the person I am today. Mom, you are truly my best friend and here are a few reasons why:
1. You have never let me down.
No matter what was going on, I knew I could come to you with anything.
2. You let me call you an average of three times a day and you don't get annoyed.
I know you are always a quick speed dial away and I'll always be greeted with a cheerful, "Hi honey!" Seriously, my friends can even hear you through the phone. Your pep is incredible! Thanks for always cheering me up or just to talk about anything.
3. You make me laugh harder than anyone I know.
Whether it's tales of how you met dad, horrible first dates or silly dance numbers, I have yet to meet someone who can make me laugh as hard as you.
4. You are always honest with me.
Although there were plenty of times growing up I grew frustrated with you because of your honesty with my poor choice of clothes, looking back I couldn't be more thankful for your honesty. You are always giving me the best advice and have no fear of telling me when I'm wrong in a situation. Thank you for always telling it how it is.
5. You loved me through my middle school stage.
How did you deal with my sassy self? I can't even begin to imagine how much I put you through.
6. Even if I let you down, you always forgave me.
I know there were numerous times growing up where I didn't make the best decisions or I said things I didn't mean. But you never held it against me. You always forgave me and reminded me of the person I truly am.
7. We have the best heart to hearts.
No matter the time of day I call you or when I'm home, you are always up for lunch or a night of watching TV on the couch and I tell you about everything in my life. You always provide me with solid advice and can always tie it back to your own experiences to show I'm not alone in my experiences.
8. You always put me first and always give me the last piece of dessert.
No matter what was going on in your life, anything in my life came first. Sports activities, academics, etc. It was always me. You're the most selfless person I know. Plus, I know you love dessert just as much as me, but if there's one piece left you never hesitate to offer it to me because you're "too full."
9. You know me better than anyone.
You can tell how I'm doing by my tone of voice or a simple look on my face. You know all of my dreams, aspirations and fears. There is not a single thing you don't know about me. You know what my favorite foods are as well as my favorite outfit. You know me best.
10. You're the best person I have ever met.
You are my mother first and my best friend second. You have the biggest heart of anyone I know and I have yet to meet someone with so much personality, love and laughter in one person. You are truly beautiful inside and out and I hope that I resemble you in every possible way. You inspire me daily and I'm so proud of all you have ever done.
Thanks for being my best friend.
