Parents are similar to snowflakes, everyone's parents are unique. Some can't stand their parents, hiding secret calendars, counting down the days until they never have to live with them again. Others might not even know their parents, only left with their reflection in the mirror to imagine what their parents actually look like. Luckily for me, I was blessed with great parents like you, which is why I decided to list 10 reasons why I am grateful to have you in my life.
1. Feeding me.
One of my most stable relationships is with food, and although I would probably weigh 20 pounds less if you didn't feed me so much, I'm thankful you make sure my stomach stays full 24/7.
2. Listening to me.
I could be complaining about how I can't unlock the top lock of the front door, venting about the obnoxious girls down my hall, asking a million questions you can't answer like, "Why are there two water towers in Millsboro?" I know you're listening all the same, despite if you really want to or not.
3. Doing my laundry.
Hi mom and dad, yeah I missed you, oh here's my laundry by the way. Needless to say, if you didn't do my laundry every weekend I come home from school, I wouldn't have any clothes to wear.
4. Being my number one fan.
At every field hockey game, I have the pleasure of looking into the stands and seeing you. No matter when or where I can always count on you to cheer me on.
5. Teaching me to never give up.
One thing you taught me is to never give up and to finish what I start. I remember this continuously, and I know that you teaching me this has made me a fighter, rather than a quitter.
6. Supporting me.
I can be whatever or whoever I choose to be and I have no doubt you will support what I choose. You've never pressured me to do something I don't want to do and constantly remind me that despite what I decide to do with my life, as long as I'm happy then you're happy.
7. Dealing with my intense mood swings and fierce attitude.
My mood is about us unpredictable as the weather in Delaware during spring and you have to be on your toes at all time, never sure what attitude you're going to get today. Thank goodness you know how to deal with each one.
8. Being my best friends.
Most people dread spending time with their parents, avoiding it at all costs. Call me crazy, but I would rather spend time with you than with anyone else,
9. Motivating me.
If anyone motivates me to be successful and to give all I do 110 percent, it's you. Without you, I wouldn't have the incentive to get out of bed in the morning. Thank you for inspiring me to do great things.
10. Always reminding me how much you love me.
I can't think of a day that you haven't told me you loved me. Whenever It escapes my mind, I can always expect a text message or a call reminding me.
Thank you for raising me into the young adult I am today. I've never been arrested or even got a speeding ticket before, so I would say that you did a pretty good job.
