Even small accomplishments count as personal victories, yet sometimes we deny ourselves pride for the sake of humbleness. You don’t necessarily need to scream your accomplishments to the world but maybe it’s time for you to start accepting the fact that you’re pretty amazing.
So to the modest people out there who need a little reminder of why you deserve to be proud of yourself:
1. You need to know you’re doing a great job
Even on the days when you feel like you’re doing your best and you still can’t win, you’re doing a great job. You’re studying, working, volunteering, and maintaining a social life. It’s tough but you’re doing amazing.
2. Life gets tough sometimes but you keep smiling through thick and thin
Maybe you counted spare change to make rent last week or maybe you just lost your job but you never give up. You keep your chin held high and embrace the rough circumstances life throws your way.
3. You found a way to call your parents
You’ve got five papers, two exams, and an online assignment due yesterday but you still called Mom after dinner.
4. You successfully made that meal you saw on Food Network
… and if you failed miserably, you had fun doing so.
5. You binge-watched a 10-season series on Netflix in under a week
…and feel 0% shame.
6. You made it to the gym today
*round of applause*
7. You took a mental health day and just focused on yourself for a change
...because you are important too.
8. You ate pizza
… it’s a magnificent choice and hints at your flawless decision making skills.
9. You pulled an all-nighter to comfort a friend.
Your friend has always been there for you and it might just be the death of her pet fish but you’re there for the funeral because you’re supportive. Proud of you.
10. You went out of your way to help someone else.
Nothing makes you happier than brightening someone’s day. Keep it up, champ.
There are so many reasons to take pride in the life you live. You might be having a bad day or a bad week but take the time to see the beauty in yourself, the things you do, and the world around you. Life is way too fleeting for you to keep selling yourself short.
