Every girl should be lucky enough to have a guy best friend-- someone they can laugh with, cry with, and be completely themselves around. I was lucky enough to meet mine in the third grade, and he's been crazy enough to stick with me for the past ten years. This one's for you, bud. Thanks for everything you do for me.
1. You're a great listener.
Even when it's 2 a.m. and I'm crying over the guy you told me was bad news in the first place.
2. You're always up for an adventure.
Whether that be taking a new way home from our breakfast dates and exploring backroads, or building a snowman at midnight, you're the only person I want to have by my side.
3. You're honest with me.
You aren't afraid to tell me what you're thinking, even if you know I'll disagree.
4. You don't judge my decisions.
Everyone makes mistakes, but you're the only person I want to talk to when I screw up.
5. You pick me up every time I fall down.
On the days I feel like I've hit rock bottom, you remind me of how lucky I really am.
6. You make time to talk to me every week.
In August, we went from living three minutes from each other to seven hours apart. Now it's not as easy as chatting on the way home from basketball games, but you still take the time to Skype me every week.
7. You give the best advice.
Even if sometimes I don't listen to you, I do appreciate what you tell me. Admittedly, I'm slowly learning that you're almost always right.
8. You know me for me.
You've been with me through it all-- the good, the bad, and the ugly. You know my strengths and my weaknesses, and you've accepted me for who I really am.
9. You aren't afraid to tell me when I'm wrong.
When I'm about to go crawling back to the guy who broke my heart, you aren't afraid to stand up to me and tell me it's a bad idea. Conversely, when I threaten to drop out of college and join the circus because I'm stressed, you tell me this is another bad decision and force me to reconsider.
10. You promise me we're never going to grow apart, and I actually believe you.
People say you distance yourself from your high school friends once you graduate, but I think you and I are an exception to the rule. You've put up with me for the past ten years, and I believe you when you say you're not going anywhere anytime soon.
