I'm re-watching "One Tree Hill" for the second time. For those of you have been on the emotional roller coaster that is the show, you'll understand. It is filled with so many life lessons, disasters, times of heartache, and times of celebration. There is always something eventful going on in the beloved characters' lives. It's easier to binge watch "One Tree Hill" than it is to walk on two legs because every single episode draws you in. In the blink of an eye, an entire season has gone by and you're craving more ... so you watch more!
Since I've already seen the show once before, I now pick up on little details that I never noticed before. I realized how relatable Peyton Sawyer actually is. Although her life is a series of people always leaving, psycho stalkers and tragic accidents, her personality overall is very down to earth and easy to connect with -- while being a secret bad*ss.
1. She takes her anger and emotion out on her favorite hobby.
Any time Peyton has a complication or run in with sadness, she documents her feelings through her art. Her room is full of her drawings and paintings that represent her past memories -- good and bad.
2. When she falls, she falls hard when it comes to guys.
Peyton isn't one to play the field. Once a guy has her heart, there's no stopping her love for them. Not even being in a love triangle with her best friend.
3. She would do anything for her best friends.
Any time any of Peyton's best friends call her, you know she'll be at their aid in a split second. Brooke doesn't have money for a prom dress or a place to live? Peyton to the rescue! And she doesn't help her friends out because they depend on her, she helps them out because she genuinely cares.
4. She doesn't care what people think.
Peyton in a bad mood? No need to interfere and try to help -- there's no stopping her from doing what she wants. Including blowing through dozens of red lights in a row or stripping down to her bra in protest.
5. She's not afraid to follow her dreams for the sake of her happiness.
Since music is her life, of course she had to at least try to go to Los Angeles. Although she ends up right back in Tree Hill where she belongs, Peyton followed her heart for her love of music. She also was the one who came up with the brilliant idea of creating Tric, creating a whole new musical environment for all ages in Tree Hill.
6. She's an old soul.
Another one of her passions is collecting records. This connects her to her birth mother, Ellie, after she dies. She also drives an old fashioned Comet convertible, giving her the old soul vibe.
7. Even when her whole world was crashing down, she put on a brave face.
After being attacked by her psycho stalker, Peyton seeks help in her blood brother. He teaches her how to defend herself and how to be tough enough to find a way out of any bad situation.
8. She's mysterious.
9. Anger and sadness = change.
No matter the cause, Peyton always manages to make a comeback in the next season. Whether it's painting her room to match her mood or getting a new hairdo, she's always up for a change after she's been put down.
10. One song can change her entire mood and day.
One of the best things about Peyton is her love and passion for music. Her whole day can be shifted just by hearing a song that brings back a good memory. She even makes playlists for her friends for special occasions in order to set the mood.
Peyton may not be my favorite character in "One Tree Hill," or even the most important character. She is, however, one of the strongest and bravest. She believes in being herself, even if it causes issues with others. She also learns to fight for what she believes in, whether that's love, music, art, or even her safety.
