Contrary to popular belief, being single has its perks--especially in college. Most young women fantasize about the day they'll meet their significant other. But before you consider jumping into any sort of relationship, here me out on some of the reasons why it's okay not to be romantically invested in another individual:

1. Because you can do whatever you want

Stay out 'till 3 A.M. and sleep 'till 3 P.M. in the afternoon. Binge watch Netflix all day. Spend the day shopping. Go mingle with boys. Do whatever your heart desires; it’s a beautiful thing.

2. Because you didn’t settle

I’ve bet you’ve met a bunch of guys that were totally awesome, but that "it" factor was missing. Don't beat yourself up over what that something was because you deserve everything you’re looking for in a guy.

3. Because you can date anyone

Long gone are the days where you can’t acknowledge a good looking stranger because you have a significant other. You are free to date as you please, so go get his number girl.

4. Because you don’t have to shave your legs all the time

YAY!

5. Because you don’t have to share

Enjoy the fact that you don’t have to live your entire life with someone else in mind. Have double the serving of ice-cream. Take up all the blankets. Be selfish. Do things for you.

6. Because there is still time to work on yourself

No one is perfect. Use the time when you’re single to better yourself. Go out into the world and learn what you're passionate about. That way, when it is time to embark on a new relationship, you know exactly what you're looking for in a significant other.

7. Because you can stay cool with your exes

Not being in a relationship means you don’t have to worry about jealous boyfriends. You can catch up with exes over lunch or even try reigniting the flame that was once there.

8. Because you can wear whatever you want

What’s better than having the option of wearing sweat pants all day and having your hair up in a bun?

9. Because some of the most amazing women are single

Taylor Swift is single. Sandra Bullock is single. Both of these women are successful influential powerful women, who also happen to be single.

10. Because the best has yet to come

Things happen for a reason, I really believe that. So, if you haven’t found your soulmate yet, it’s okay. At the end of the day, be comfortable with who you are and love yourself--the rest will come naturally.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
