I have had many friends in my lifetime. Some have stayed, others have left. I've definitely learned what I value in a friendship. This is for my most recent best friend. She has made my days better since she came into my life, and I am so grateful to have her!
1. You are my best friend.
You sometimes get on my nerves and I get on yours, but at the end of the day, you are all that I need. I couldn’t ask for a better person to support me and to help me get through this crazy thing called life. I can go to you about anything, and you will be there for me. I’ve been waiting years to find someone like you, and I am so happy I can call you one of my best friends. You’re truly spectacular, despite what you think.
2. I can be myself around you.

3. You are my person.
You are who I go to after a really long day. I go to you when I’m happy, sad, angry, exhausted, overwhelmed, anxious, and stressed. It doesn’t matter what’s happening in your life or mine, you’re there to pick up the pieces. Thank you for that.
4. You comfort me.
This one is extremely important. I find complete comfort in very few things and even fewer people. Your ability to calm me down and get me out of my head for a little while is something I appreciate immensely. I know it’s not always easy and I can be needy, but you don’t know how much your comfort means to me.
5. You need me as much as I need you.
This may sound strange, but most of my friends don’t act like they need me as much as I need them. You depend on me to be your friend and confidant, which makes me feel needed and wanted. You make me feel appreciated. You definitely pull your weight in our friendship.
6. You sit through my crying fits and mental breakdowns.
The fact that I am comfortable crying in front of you should really emphasize how much I trust you and how comfortable I am around you. I try not to cry in front of people because it makes me feel weak and my crying face is really not pleasant. When I’m crying, I’m at my most vulnerable. You take me at face value and stay with me until I feel better. Your role as my best friend is outrageously important, so thank you for accepting that I am sometimes prone to crying fits and mental breakdowns. I have your back, too.
7. You hold me.
I generally don’t like being touched, let alone held. It’s not something I’m used to or crave all that often. Your arms around me can make me feel safe and okay. I trust you in a way I try not to trust other people.
8. You make me feel important.
Even when I feel like a burden, you assure me I’m not. This means so much to me because I generally feel like an annoyance to my peers and friends.
9. You make me smile (and laugh).
You remind me of all the reasons there are to smile, and you laugh along with me at our lives and experiences. Our time together is always highly enjoyable.
10. You don’t let me forget my worth.
Like anyone, I have my times of low self-esteem. I tend to self-deprecate and not give myself as much credit as I deserve. You’re always right there to promise me that I deserve the world. I need someone to do that more often than I’d like to admit. This world is a scary place, and I know as long as I have you as my best friend I will be okay.
Thank you for being a part of my life.
I appreciate you. I care about you. I cherish my time with you. I need you. I love you.
