Recruitment season has ended, which means we’re all obsessed with our new pledge classes and hunting for littles. Here’s some advice to all new members:
- Your new sorority chose you to represent their letters. Be proud of these letters and cherish them during your life.
- The girls in your pledge class will become some of your best friends. You’ll go through so many things together and it will be impossible not to create lifelong bonds with some of them.
- A ton of older sisters will ask to hang out and get to know you; it might be overwhelming at first, but these girls are potential big material so get to know as many as possible!
- You get to represent your new letters everywhere! Be proud of these letters and represent them well.
- You’ll learn so many new things about your chapter! Your new member period might be long, but take this time to appreciate everything you learn during this period!
- YOU GET A BIG. This is probably the most exciting thing about being a new member. For an entire week, you’re showered with gifts leading up to reveal. Keep an open mind during big/little selection, and don’t be disappointed if you don’t get the big you want. Your big will love you no matter what!
- Your chapter will have so many events that you’ll get to go to. Don’t feel obligated to go to every event you have. If you have class or homework, always remember that school comes first before anything!
- With representing your letters, you’ll also represent your sorority’s mission statement. My sorority’s mission statement is “Inspiring the Highest type of Womanhood”. Try every day to incorporate your open statement in your everyday routine.
- Learn about your philanthropy as much as you can during your new member period. Philanthropy is such an important aspect in every Greek organization, so uphold your values, open statement, and philanthropy to the best of your ability.
- 10. At the end of your new member period, you’ll become initiated into your sorority. Take your initiation week seriously as this is one of the most important events as a collegiate member in your chapter.
