10 Reasons Why Growing Up With Your Cousins As Your Best Friend Is A Good Thing

Sometimes people can find a friend from school to be their best friend through life, but growing up with your cousin as your best friend changes the game. It gives you a whole new look on life, because now you get to grow old together and watch each others kids grow up. Life is such a beautiful thing, and spending it with someone as special as your cousin is a really neat thing.

1. A Constant Safety Net

When you are younger you always have someone your age to play with at family gatherings. You rarely ever had to awkwardly sit by your mom or grandma while they had a conversation with one of your many aunts. Even when you get older, you know that the one person you can always talk to will be there and will pull you away from the conversations that you really don’t want to be in.

2. Cousin or Sibling?

You treat them as a part of the family, they became like the sibling you never had but yet you didn’t always have to be around them. Most of the time they would be able to come over and play for the entire day, but then they would have to go home at the end of the night.

3. Someone to Talk too

No matter what the topic is, you are always going to be able to talk to them. If something were to happen in the family you go to them, because at that moment they understand more than any of your other friends do. A lot of the time if something happens in your life you are able to go to them because you always have and you know you can trust them with the information. They can be the person who walks you through the situation even if they aren’t around at the moment.

4. Travel Texter

You know that when you’re on the road traveling, you always have someone that is going to check up on you during the trip just to make sure your still doing okay, while updating you on everything that your missing back at home. They also tend to be able to keep you company while you’re sitting in a car, driving to the other side of the country.

5. A Support System

While life has got you in a sticky situation, you know that they will always be there for you and will try to help in any way that they can. They fully support your goals, and your spontaneous adventures. Without them you don’t know if you would make it through the day without their witty text message that makes you laugh your butt off.

6. Honestly, they are the realest with you

Besides your mom, they might be the most honest with you because of the relationship that you have. Given the chance and they will fully speak their mind on the situation. And usually they don’t tend to hold back if it is weighing on their heart pretty hard. In return they ask you do to the same: be honest with them.

7. Your own personal motivational speaker

Most of the time you can have these very deep conversations. Well when those conversations happen someone usually turns into a motivational speaker and then you get a whole lecture on all of the many things you could do in life. For the most part they tend to happen when it’s very late in the evening or really early morning. Sometimes those words stick with you until you do something about it.

8. They Love You for You

No matter what you’re into or not into they love you for it. They find ways to come support you in the things you are a part of. You spend most of your free time with them, and you might not always have something to do, but they love just being in your presence. No matter what you’re doing with them you always have a good time. You have a ton of wonderful memories, and some bad ones too but that’s a normal relationship.

9. Spending the night, turns into spending the weekend

Most of the time your parents are always up for them spending the night, or you going there because they know each other really well. Your parents know that you probably won’t be back until three days later because you’ll ask to spend the night a few more times before they say no or you have to do something. You two also just have so much fun with each other that your parents don’t want to it end yet, so they let you continue to spend the night.

10. A Friend for Life

You’ve known her since the day you were born, and given how the past 18 years have gone you know that she will always be a part of your life in some way. You have someone that will reach the same milestones when you do and that works really well because you can get each other through them. No matter where you are in the country you’ll love her no matter what.

With all my heart, I love my best friends :)

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
