10 Reasons I'm Excited For Fall

1. Sweaters and boots.

Sweaters are undoubtedly the best tops anyone could possibly wear--it's like wrapping yourself in a blanket while simultaneously being able to look as though you have your life together and have the time to put effort into getting yourself ready each morning. As far as boots go, does it get better? Rainboots, riding boots, combat boots, booties--whichever style you prefer, fall is the time to bring them out and show them off before the snow starts to cover the ground and you have to resort to your clunky snowboots for the agonizing months of winter.

2. Pumpkin everything--pumpkin pie, bread, picking, spice lattes...

Nothing screams fall like getting to go to the pumpkin patch with your family and friends, taking cute pictures in a field of orange, and taking a few plump pumpkins home to carve into cute designs. Also, the long awaited return of all of the pumpkin products--especially the coffee ones--is over and you eat absolutely every piece of pumpkin pie you can before it goes out of seasonal style all over again.

3. Halloween

One of the world's greatest holidays--who doesn't love dressing up with your friends, going to exciting and entertaining parties, and getting free candy? The scary decorations, music, and movies are always a plus too.

4. ABC Family's Thirteen Nights of Halloween

From Hocus Pocus to Casper, every Halloween classic is at your disposal through ABC Family's 13 Nights of Halloween--plus a few other great movies, like Matilda, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and the Harry Potter films. Also, don't forget the Halloween specials that your favorite shows, like Stitchers, have.

5. The leaves changing color

Nothing is more beautiful than walking around town or through campus and seeing trees that look like a watercolor painting with leaves exploding in colors from deep red to bright yellow. Instagram, get ready.

6. Thanksgiving

Another one of the world's best holidays--Thanksgiving. It's a time to be with your family, take time to be truly grateful for all that you are blessed with, and eat some really good food. Whether you spend the day watching football or sitting around the table sharing stories, it is certainly a holiday to look forward to and to take advantage of in order to spend some extra quality time with your family.

7. Good hair days

As the hot summer humidity fades away, your hair starts to cooperate again. You can finally blow-dry or straighten your hair knowing that it will last more than the ten minutes it takes to walk from your dorm to class.

8. Rainy days = rain boots

For all of the people who love their rainboots as much as I do, you actually get excited about the fact that it'll rain in the next few days. Because you can't wear them at any point from about April to September without sweating half to death, you can't wait to be able to pull your rainbows out again and jump into puddles without worrying about having to handle wet socks for the rest of the day.

9. Football

Perhaps the most celebrated sport in American society: football. Whether you actually enjoy watching the game or you just enjoy the food that comes with it, you can always look forward to a good football game with your family and friends.

10. The return of all of your favorite shows

The agonizing wait is over--your favorite TV shows (you know, the ones that get you through the rest of the week just because you're that excited to get to the next episode) come back!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
