10 Reasons Why Dogs Are Obviously The Best

Dogs are ANYONE'S best friend. For those of you who aren't "dog people", I would really reconsider this choice. Growing up with dogs always in my household has made me a better, happier person, and I think it would have the same effect on many others.

1. They are your own personal welcoming committee.

"Oh, I'm so happy you're home yay yay yay!" Okay, seriously. Who would want to come home to an empty house when you could have that warm welcome instead?

2. They are the best at cheering you up.

No feeling is better when you're crying or upset and a fluffy animal comes and rests their head on you. Sweetest thing you'll ever experience.

3. It doesn't take much to keep them happy.

A tummy rub, a treat, a walk, some attention. That's enough to make a dog feel like a million bucks. It really is the little things for them.

4. And in return, they make you very happy.

In return for your small acts of kindness, dogs present you with laughter, love, and lifelong friendship. Pretty nice trade if you ask me.

5. Their entire life is about you.

"I wonder when she'll be home, I can't wait!" Ever feel underappreciated by those in your life? No need to worry, you were one of the only things on your dog's mind that day.

6. They give you an excuse to adventure.

Dogs love exploring new places and make the best traveling companions... and when you're treating them, you're treating yourself to some new sights and fresh air as well!

7. They are the best judges of character.

Dogs are usually right about bad people. Oh, how I wish I would have listened to my dog sooner when he continuously growled and tried to bite my ex.

8. They will defend you from harm.

I don't know about you, but I feel much safer sleeping at night knowing that if someone out to hurt me breaks in, my dog would have no problem coming to my rescue.

9. They give you a sense of responsibility.

"Come on, Dad, it'll teach me responsibility!" This excuse while trying to convince parents to get you a dog is actually very true. Caring for a dog takes some effort, but it's worth it!

10. When humans suck, at least you have your real best friend at home.

They might chew on your stuff and pee on the floor sometimes, but they'll never break your heart. Appreciate and love your dogs, people!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
