If I was asked who my idol is, the first name to come to my mind would be Demetria Devonne Lovato (more commonly known as Demi Lovato). Anyone who knows me could tell you that she has been the one celebrity I have looked up to for a very long time. She, of all people, knows what it's like to battle depression and deal with body-image issues, but she uses those struggles to inspire and connect with millions of her fans - including me, of course.

One of the main reasons I consider Lovato as my role model is because, despite her struggles, she built her way back into the music industry and used her fame as a voice for all those who suffer from things ranging from mental disorders to bullying. She stands up for what is right no matter how much hate or memes come along with the publicity.

Here are just a few of the many reasons that Demi Lovato is someone you should look up to:

1. She taught us why we should be confident.

Like she sang in one of her latest hit songs, Lovato taught us to question society and showed us that there is nothing wrong with being confident. She has taught young women across the nation to love themselves while working towards achieving their goals/dreams.

2. She stays true to herself.

Lovato is the last person in the music industry to allow someone to change who she is. She sticks true to her beliefs, and she isn't afraid to speak her mind. She believes that we are all individually unique and that we shouldn't change just because we don't necessarily "fit it."

3. She taught us that our feelings are valid.

Lovato makes sure that her fans respect themselves and their feelings. She believes that we have a right to feel what we feel and a right to act upon them.

4. She uses her music to connect with her fans.

Lovato uses her powerful lyrics to capture the minds and hearts of her fans. Her inspirational songs allow young girls and boys around the world to feel as if they aren't alone and that they are loved.

5. She puts her fans first.

Lovato has said that her Lovatics - what she calls her fans - mean the world to her. She believes that without them she would have never made it this far.

6. She has campaigned for anti-bullying and mental health.

Being a victim of bullying herself, Lovato has campaigned for years against the act of bullies. She has taught kids and adults to stand up to bullies, and why it's important to "stomp out bullying" for good.

7. She reminds us to stay strong.

After making a comeback from her time off in 2010-2011, Demi Lovato sent out the message for her fans to "stay strong" no matter how bad of a situation they were going through. She is a strong believer that everything will eventually get better and it will make you stronger in the process.

8. She taught us how to love ourselves.

Lovato pushes the issue of self-love. She even did a photoshoot with Vanity Fair to show women we don't have to hide our skin. She taught us that we can love ourselves the way we were made, flaws and all.

9. The inspirational quotes she lives by.

10. She doesn't care what people think about her.

Lovato knows that she isn't perfect, and she will be the first to tell you that. Even though she is imperfect, she doesn't strive to be someone who she isn't.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
