As Thanksgiving Break came to an end, we were already counting down the days for Winter Break. The few weeks between Thanksgiving and Winter Break are probably the longest time of the year for any college student. Countless hours of studying and pulling all-nighters more than you should admit gets really old really fast, and Winter Break just can’t come soon enough. There is no better thought of being in your own bed binging on Netflix for hours on end, catching up on sleep and finding your sanity that you lost during finals week. Here are the top 10 reasons college students look forward to Winter Break.

1. Not having to wear shower shoes

Let's face it, no one likes having to share a shower with a bunch of people you barely know. Finally being able to let free of those shower shoes is probably the best feeling ever! There is nothing worse then realizing half way through your shower that you forgot your razor, shampoo, or worst of all... your key. So enjoy these next few weeks being able to sing as loud as you want while being barefoot in the comfort of your own shower.

2. A reliable Internet connection

No matter what school you go to the WiFi will never be perfect. At one point of our college career we have all faced the struggle of turning in an assignment late because of poor internet connection, or worst of all being in the middle of an important episode of Netflix and having it freeze. So I hope you all take this time to binge watch your favorite TV show without the daily struggles of buffering.

3. Being home with family

It's always nice to get away from your family for a short period of time, but at the end of the day there's nothing like being at home. Sitting around the dinner table, sharing stories just like old times really makes you appreciate all that you have to be grateful for in your life. Even though we all get a little irritated with our sisters asking us to borrow clothes, there’s nothing better than having them around to spend countless hours with catching up on all that we missed out on.

4. Reconnecting with high school friends

Realizing that you will finally be able to see your friends from home for more than two or three days might be the best part about break! Thanksgiving break was not nearly long enough to complete the list of adventures we have been planning since before summer even ended. The first night back together most likely consist of everyone meeting up at the hometown bar, and better yet getting the scoop on what your high school crush is up to nowadays.

5. A fridge full of food

For those of us suffering on a daily basis of whether or not the food in the cafe is going to be edible or not, we're finally able to have a real home cooked meal! There's nothing worse than using a meal swipe to find out that all there is for lunch are the sketchy fish sticks that were probably left over from last week. The last week of school is always the worst when you realize that you have run out of snacks because you most likely finished them during the first all nighter preparing for finals. Coming home to a fully stocked pantry and fridge gives you endless opportunities for any kind of snack you ever could hope for!

6. Sleeping in your own bed

While some of us love our beds at school, most of us dream about the first night back in our own beds. Sleeping in a twin size bed is honestly one of the biggest struggles, especially if you’re someone who rolls around a ton at night, while sometimes ending up on the floor the next morning. So being able to roll around and sprawl out like a starfish brings quite the excitement!

7. Free laundry

For those of us not lucky enough to have free laundry in college, coming home to do it truly is a blessing. Spending five or more dollars a week really does add up, while most of us already struggle paying for that morning cup of coffee to help us get through our day. Also factoring in not having to worry about your clothes being stolen or placed on top of the washer (except by your sister) really is a great feeling.

8. Not setting an alarm

Winter break means not setting your alarm as well as not stressing about your early morning class. 8 AM classes are one of the worst things to happen to any college student. Especially waking up for that Friday 8 AM physics class after a long night of drinking, even though you told yourself you were going to stay in. And for those of you who have never experienced an 8 AM class, consider yourself lucky!

9. Rekindling with your pets

Having a fish in your dorm room isn’t exactly the same thing as having a dog or a cat. The obsession I have with my dog is one like no other. Although your family is always excited to see you, there is nothing like the excitement from your dogs. The minute I step out of my car she is already there running around in circles like a crazy person waiting to give you a thousand kisses.

10. Counting down the days till you're reunited with your college friends

Although we all love being home seeing old friends and spending time with family, after about five or so days we are more than ready to be back at school. There is no way to describe the feeling of driving back on campus, knowing that you are free from the watchful eye of mom and dad!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
