Anyone with a soul knows that breakfast is the best meal of the day. You get the best food, you get a lot of it, and there's coffee. It's also easier to cook a decent breakfast than it is to put together any other meal. And everybody knows that making breakfast for your significant other is romantic in a way that's just not the same with lunch or dinner. Unfortunately, I still know a couple people who aren't fans of breakfast. In the interest of preserving their immortal souls, here is a list of supporting reasons for why breakfast is the best.
1. Anything at IHOP. But mostly French toast.
I'm not sure about anyone else, but I don't think I've ever ordered anything at IHOP that wasn't French toast or pancakes. I mean, yeah, it comes with eggs and sausage links, but that's not what I drove all the way out here on a Thursday night for.
2. Croissants and croissant sandwiches
Croissants are probably one of my favorite foods. I have been known to eat at least five in one day. Healthy habits aside, these suckers are ridiculously good with some over-easy eggs and cheese in the middle.
3. Breakfast in bed
Let's face it, getting lunch or dinner in bed just isn't as cute as breakfast in bed. Also, it probably means you're in the hospital or you're not feeling well. I can 100% guarantee that someone bringing you breakfast in bed will brighten your day.
4. Bacon
Now personally, I don't really like bacon. But I've lived in the South long enough to know that somebody would throw a fit if it wasn't included on this list. (And yes, I've tried bacon multiple times. I guess it's the ex-vegetarian in me that can't handle it.) Regardless, enough people are in love with bacon that it probably has something going for it.
5. Good ol' fashioned pancakes
There are so many options when it comes to pancakes. Are you in the mood for chocolate chip, blueberry, banana, or even peach pancakes? It's all possible. It's all happening. Pancakes are also notoriously easy to make. You just buy the pancake mix and it's all downhill from there.
6. Belgian Waffles and everything we put on them
Please look at this picture and tell me that you still don't like breakfast. Just look at it. Chocolate, strawberries, bananas, more chocolate, whipped cream...You can literally eat dessert first thing in the morning and nobody can judge you for it because it's breakfast. You can't get away with that during any other meal, I'll tell you what.
7. Fancy coffee at expensive brunch restaurants
Another part of breakfast that presents endless options is coffee. Mocha, frappuccinos, Americanos, espresso, iced coffee, whatever, you can drink it. And buying fancy coffee at an expensive brunch restaurant is one way to feel bougie when you can't actually afford anything else on the menu. (Just be sure to put it on Instagram later).
8. Biscuits and gravy
A well-loved staple of any Southern breakfast. While this picture is egregiously incorrect, because you're supposed to smother biscuits open-faced with gravy until you can't actually tell there's biscuits on the plate anymore, I chose this picture because it's the most aesthetically pleasing.
9. Doughnuts
Technically, you can eat donuts any time of day, but they'll never taste as fresh as they do first thing in the morning. Once again, it is socially acceptable to eat dessert when you start your day. More people need to take advantage of this.
10. Omelette du fromage
For the more health-conscious, the omelette is a breakfast standard. You can load it up with kale or whatever other kind of disgusting health food you eat. Personally, I like omelettes with one thing: cheese. I'm a guy with simple tastes.
