One of the most common questions people are asked when first acquainting themselves with another person is: “Are you a cat person or a dog person?” The answer tells the other person a lot about you without having to know you. Cat people are typically known as introverted and thoughtful whereas dog people are extroverted and fun-loving. Everybody knows the traits of “cat people” versus “dog people," but what if you are just an animal lover in general?

Animal lovers are the best kind of people, and here's why:

1. They love everything and everyone.

When you love all of the animal types, even the ones most people hate or are scared of (snakes, I’m looking at you), it’s pretty obvious that you are just a lover, not a fighter.

2. They are fun-loving but also know that relaxation is important too.

When you look at a cat person, you probably assume they love naps, and when you look at a dog person, you know they are the first to go on an adventure with. The great thing about animal lovers is that they know how to balance high energy activities with rest and relaxation.

3. They are compassionate.

Animal lovers are usually the first to cry when a sad video pops up on Facebook. There is no difference when it comes to their friends and family. Animal lovers cry when you cry and laugh when you laugh because they (like animals) feed off of the energy of those around them.

4. They are easy to entertain.

Animal lovers are great friends because you never have to worry about boring them. Whether you guys are just chatting about life in the comfort of your home or riding a roller coaster, they are not going to be bored. They live in the moment and enjoy the warmth that friendship has to offer.

5. They are intuitive.

Much like a pet can feel the energy off of a stranger or can alert people of a medical emergency before it happens, animal people are great at reading the energy of others before a word is even said. That means they can tell you if the new boy or girl you met at the bar is a keeper or not before the first conversation is even over.

6. They are selfless.

Animal lovers are some of the most empathetic and trustworthy people you can meet. Knowing that someone needs to talk about their problems is something that will never go unnoticed by an animal lover. The constant need to pay attention to signals from their pets overflows into their human-acquainted lives as well.

Need someone to take an impromptu trip with or to talk to about a bad day? An animal lover friend is a must-have in everyone’s life. Even if you are a cat or dog person, knowing that they will love you (and your pet) no matter what should offer comfort that other friendships cannot.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
