10 Quotes That Brockport Students Have Probably Said

This article is dedicated to the fellow SUNY Brockport student out there that have lived through each one of these quotes. You're not alone.

1. "Did you look up what Harrison is serving for dinner?"

Cue your roommate reading off about Tequila Lime Chicken as your high hopes for chicken tenders slowly disintegrates. You almost get mad at them for even reading off a menu that they'll know you'll hate.

2. "So... TRAX?"

This is most likely your response when your roommate tells you about the terrible menu the dining hall is offering you. This quote is also said at least 4 times a week yet you still wonder how you only have $8.58 dining dollars to last you the rest of the semester.

3. "What is up with My Resnet!?"

Trying to register? Trying to finish a research paper? Trying to submit a paper by midnight? These very important times will be the times when our stupid WiFi wants to be difficult.

4. "Those new bikes are hideous."

Brockport has created a way for people to rent bikes, which is a fabulous idea. However, they are atrocious. The green and yellow are all in the wrong places. I applaud the valiant effort, though.

5. "Should I skip class? It's in Hartwell"

Hartwell is roughly a good 15 minute walk and the thought of walking there just makes me sad. 99%of the time I will actually get out of bed and take the walk but just know that my sour puss attitude is because I am miserable.

6. "Make sure you bring money for Perri's tonight."

You subconsciously do not want to spend money on food this weekend, along with your morals telling you not to drunkenly binge eat. But somehow, you always find yourself eating a slice of Perri's buffalo chicken pizza at 1:34 AM on a Friday night.

7. "Why is the SERC always crowded?!"

I am just trying to do a good deed for myself and work off the Perri's I mistakenly ate the weekend before, but every treadmill, bike, and elliptical is in use. God forbid, I try to stretch or do abs on the mats because there will never be an open spot for me.

8. "Brockport has their own Snapchat?"

Um, wait what? Why? I do not want them to watch my snapstories from the prior weekends.

9. "I can't drive, my car is in V1 and I don't want to walk there."

To anyone that is not living in the townhouses, V1 is so far and out of the way. Half the things you plan on doing get canceled because they require cars and you're simply too lazy to take the dreaded route to that parking lot.

10. "Did you call safe ride?"

Safe ride could possibly be the most life-saving opportunity for Brockport students. A car that gives you free rides to and from places around campus? Safe ride saves lives people, saves lives. Remember that.

SUNY Brockport has it's ups and it's downs. However, the things you hate you start to miss when you're home on break. So that is why Brockport is the place to be and gets a thumbs up from me.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
