10 Questions You'll Ask During Finals Week, As Told By "Friends"

Finals week is usually not the most wonderful time of the year for anyone. "Dead" week has somehow offered some weird type of "calm" before the storm, and that is really saying something about the pressure on actual exam dates. You hope you've studied everything you'll need to know, but you don't always have a foolproof way of validating that. So you hope for the best, but still can't help but ponder the following 10 questions.

1. Did I study enough for [insert course title]?

Your answer to this question keeps wavering somewhere in between a "yes" and a "no."

2. What do I need to get at least a [insert letter grade] in this class?

Sometimes the answer may astound you. But hopefully it won't.

3. When was the last time I showered?

This is a true measure of your dedication to studying and academia this semester.

4. When is the last time I ate?

Sadly, the answer to this question may not be one that you want to hear. Enter food delivery, here to save the day. You deserve that box of pizza, hand delivered with cheese-stuffed crust. Treat yourself.

5. How many hours of sleep have I gotten this week?

Your state of sleep deprivation has seemingly reached a point of no return, but you are too hopped up on coffee to truly feel its effects. Just remember to keep thinking that everything is "fine," because it will be soon enough.

6. This is rock bottom, right?

You can't remember the last time you felt this terrible. You're sure the week could somehow be worse, but that would just be cruel on part of the universe. You hope that things will only get better with the completion of each final exam.

7. Should I switch majors?

You may question if your major is really what you want to commit the rest of your college career, and possibly life, to. For the most part, this may just been your "final exam" brain speaking. If not, maybe it's time to make a pro-con list.

8. When will I ever need to know this in real life?

This is especially in regards to general classes that have nothing to do with anything you want or need to know for your life. When will knowing the name of the first emperor of an ancient, faraway land be useful if he has nothing to do with your major?

9. Does my professor think this is my only class?

Not only did they first assign a group project, but they also made a 10-page essay due the week before finals. They also decided to make your final exam cumulative and inclusive of topics never-before mentioned during class. News flash: Most of us are juggling a few other classes and also trying to have a social life in between that.

10. Does Christmas break start tomorrow?

You realize that you're knocking out final exams more quickly than it seems, since this week really is just one giant blur. But you stop and take a minute to think about how much you have endured and cannot wait for break to start. You are so close to being a functional human being once again. Another round of finals almost defeated.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
