10 Problems People With Colorful Hair Will Understand

Over the past few years, I've had it all. Pink. Purple. Blue. I can't get enough of expressing myself through my hair color. Not only does it make me feel like the mermaid unicorn princess I actually am, it also is incredibly empowering. Although, with every fun hair color I do, comes consistent struggles only someone else with colorful hair will understand.

1. Having people come up to you and touch your hair.

I don't know about you guys - but I feel like every time a stranger compliments my blue locks, they have to touch them as well. Did I say that you could touch my hair??

2. Backhanded compliments.

"OMG I love your hair! I mean... I could never pull it off. I would never be brave enough to walk out of the house like that and would never land a job... but yeah! Kudos to you! Love it!"

And speaking of jobs...

3. People assuming that you are not professional or cannot do your job correctly because you have colorful hair.

I promise, I'm just as good at my job as the brunette to the left of me. Also just as qualified.

4. Having to re-dye your hair every two weeks in order to keep your tresses vibrant.

Yes, I have definitely touched up my hair since I went blue one year ago.

5. No longer enjoying hot showers.

Sadly, in order to keep your hair vibrant, cold showers are a must.

6. Going as long as humanly possible without washing your hair.

I have mastered the shower cap.

7. Going all the way to the store to pick up your hair dye, only to find out your shade of Manic Panic is out of stock.

Where am I going to find atomic turquoise!?! I can't walk around with faded hair!

8. Having to deep condition and trim incredibly often.

9. Having a monthly budget for your hair (especially if you go in to a salon to get it done.)

I could either eat this week or touch up my hair. Decisions, decisions.

10. Not being able to explain to everyone how important a hair style is to you.

You wouldn't be you without it!
