These are all of the things I do when I'm not feeling the best or when something's got me down. I don't usually need to do all of these things at one time to feel better but these are all things I have done at one point. Hopefully, these help you as much as they have helped me.
Doing homework or any type of work I need to get done.

Believe it or not, being distracted allows me to forget what I was sad about in the first place.
Listening to music!
Personally sad music helps me ride it out, but you might find that more upbeat music turns things around.
Writing my feelings down in a journal or typing it out on my computer.
I dim the screen of my computer to the point where it's almost like there's nothing on screen and then I just type into my notes section without thinking and without hitting the backspace. It feels as though all that emotion just flows through my fingertips.
Talking to my friends.
It doesn't necessarily have to be about the sad thing, but I find that talking about the most random things with my friends helps. Just being in the presence of friends helps me to realize my support network.
Drinking hot tea!
I drink my favorite chai that comes in little packets (with milk and sugar already in them) and it's almost like it dissolves all those negative feelings.
Watching funny videos on Youtube or watching an episode of "The Office."
Sometimes, I just watch compilations of Jim's pranks on Dwight and those never fail to make me laugh. This is enormously cliché but truly, laughter is the best medicine.
Taking a nap!
This one is by far my favorite and that's because:
Feeling Refreshed + Not Being Sad Anymore= The Best Combo
Going on a walk either around my block or across campus.
It's a great time, especially around fall time because the air is crisp and the leaves are changing colors. It gives me time to think and makes me feel like I've walked off most of my problems.
Just crying it out.
Sometimes, the best way to let things go, is to just let yourself cry it out. Don't hold anything back and just let all your emotions through with those tears.
