Finals are rapidly approaching and at this point, there's no time to procrastinate studying any longer. Here are 10 study spots to help you prepare to ace the dreaded finals week.
1. The Library
This one is a no-brainer but a lot of people focus best in the library because of the silence. If you like to work alone, go find a quiet desk with a bluff view, or if study groups are more your speed make sure to book a study room before they fill up.
2. Lion's Den
If the library is too quiet and not lively enough for you, try the lion's den. They have their Christmas decorations in full swing and you can grab a yummy drink and find a nice table to sit at alone or with some friends.
3. Greek Suite
The Greek Suite is the perfect place to go sit for hours and get stuff done. It's relatively quiet without being so quiet that people stare at you when you open a granola bar. It's also close to the Lair and the Den so it's easy to grab some food when you need a study break.
4. The Living Room
Similar to the Greek Suite, the Living Room is a great study spot with it's many empty tables and proximity to the Den. It's also super close to the Freshman dorms, making it a much easier 3 am walk back to the dorms for them.
5. St. Robs
The classrooms in St. Robs are the best place to go study at night during finals week since most of them are empty. You can spread your work out across all the desks or floor and have all the space you need to get organized and prepare for your tests.
6. Rains & McCarthy
Rains and McCarthy are home to not only dorms, but also many large study rooms. They have multiple study spaces on almost every floor and are perfect for accomplishing group projects or finding somewhere to study after your roommate goes to sleep.
7. UHall
University Hall is also home to many empty classrooms and ideal study spots. There are benches lined up outside many classrooms, tables along the first floor, and new comfy chairs and tables on the upper floors. There are also lounges in all the major departments - nice quiet and hidden places to study.
8. The ARC
The Academic Resource Center (located behind Doheny) is a good place to go if you need a change of pace from the library. During the day, you can go in anytime and find a study spot in their lounges and study rooms, and they have available computers. On the evenings and weekends you can reserve the main area suite by visiting their website.
9. Outside
If it's nice out (winter in LA isn't so bad), find a relaxing study spot outside. Some great options are Sunken Gardens, benches along the bluff, tables outside the Bird's Nest, and Lawton Plaza.
10. Off-Campus
If you live off campus or just need to get away for a few hours, there are plenty of study spots outside LMU as well. You can find a ton of coffee shops - from Starbucks in Marina Del Rey to TOMS on Abbott Kinney, or go find a quiet spot on the beach.
Good luck with all your finals and remember to give yourself a study break every now and then!
