While watching the Dillon Panthers win state championships and
seeing Tim Riggins shirtless are definitely not un-beneficial, there is much
more to learn from the five seasons of "Friday Night Lights." There's so much to
learn from it, actually, it's completely OK to binge watch the entire show in
less than a week. Coach Taylor and the rest of Dillon have a lot to say, and we
have a lot to learn...
1. Sometimes bad things happen to good people.
"Give all of us gathered here tonight the strength to
remember that life is so very fragile. We are all vulnerable and we will all at
some point in our lives fall; we will all fall. We must carry this in our hearts…that
what we have is special. That it can be taken from us and that when it is taken
from us we will be tested…we will be tested to our very souls. We will now all
be tested. It is these times…it is this pain that allows us to look inside
ourselves." -Coach Taylor
2. Dream big while you can.
"Here's to God and football and, ten years from now,
Street, good friends livin' large in Texas. Texas forever, Street." -Tim
Riggins
3. You gotta live to learn.
"You're twenty years old. You're not supposed to know what
you're gonna do with the rest of your life yet. You're doing what you think is
best. You're following through on what you think is best and that's what you
should be doing. You have a plan and you're executing it, what's wrong with
that? But you gotta give it a chance, you gotta give yourself time. You can't
beat yourself up because you're taking chances on things, but don't start
giving up on what you set forth to do in the beginning, 'cause that's gonna get
you nowhere. I can promise you that." -Coach Taylor
4. Do it now or regret it later.
"You get one chance in life fellas. You either take
advantage of it or you piss it away. You do the latter and you're gonna regret
it the rest of your lives." -Coach Taylor
5. The only way to succeed is to work - work hard.
"Success is not a goal. It's a by-product. So let's put the
work in." -Coach Taylor
6. Everyone loves a good BBQ.
"Let's have a morale building barbecue." -Tami Taylor
7. Leaving your small town is hard.
"It's kinda like this drug: when you get outside of it, you
see it for what it is. But when you're in it, seems like there's no other
possible reality." -Tyra Collete
8. Overthinking leads to no good.
"You can blame yourself for anything if you think about it
long enough." -Coach Taylor
9. Life's tough. Take what it gives and enjoy it.
"You can have it all, but you can't have it all at once, so
you take your memories where you can get 'em. Right, Riggs?" -Jason
Street
10. Clear Eyes. Full Hearts.
CAN'T LOSE.
