By now, I'm sure you've watched every one movie that attempts to depict college. You've probably interrogated your older friends and browsed every tab of the college or university you plan on attending. Although you have probably heard a lot of great stuff, the truth is: most of it just isn't true. Here are 10 lies you've heard about college:

1. You'll go out every night

Probably every college student you've ever asked will tell you how crazy and wild their lives are. You've probably heard hundreds of stories that sound too good to be true, and that's because they are. Sure, you'll go out. But in no way will you have enough time to go out every night.

2. You'll meet the love of your life

You'll have more than enough people to date, and trust me, you will date them. Sometimes it will seem like you've met the love of your life, but honestly, college is a time to focus on yourself. Have fun and don't swear off dating because you're waiting for Mr. Right.

3. You'll meet your best friend

A lot of people do meet some of their best friends in college, but that doesn't mean that they will be your true best friend. Sometimes the bonds you've made before college can withstand the test of time/distance. Make new friends but keep the old.

4. You'll hate your roommate

Living in a small space with someone you just met will definitely cause some friction, however, your roommate becomes your second family in college. They will become he one you tell about your day (even though they don't care), or complain about your classes to. A lot of the time your roommate will act more as your support system than your arch-enemy.

5. You'll gain the freshman 15

Everyone gains weight. That's a fact. But there is no rule that says you are obligated to gain weight. Eat what you want, and exercise when you want. You're in control of your body and can make it look however you want it to look.

6. Freshman dorms suck

Okay, I'm not going to lie, the size isn't the best. Neither are the beds. However, it's kind of awesome getting to live with a hundred other students who are going through exactly what you are going through. Make friends with your neighbors.

7. College isn't that much harder than high school

Anyone who tells you this is lying. College is hard, but in different ways. College is hard because you are officially in charge of yourself. No one is going to tell you when to do your homework, when to go to class, or when to wash your clothes. It's all up to you, and self-motivation is not as easy as you think.

8. There is always something to do

Okay, there might always be something going on, but that is if you're interested in attending a party of four people getting drunk on a Tuesday night. Sometimes it is a better(and much more fun) idea to just stay in bed.

9. You won't get addicted to caffeine

Yes. You. Will. Even if you don't drink coffee you'll find yourself guzzling down an energy drink, or two, every few days.

10. College should be the best time of your life

Like anything in life, you'll get out of college whatever you put into it. Work hard, study hard, party hard. Do what you want to do and use these four years to grow into a person that you will be happy with.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
