Rom-coms: the reason that you might have unrealistic expectations when it comes to love. Whether you're expecting to be like Kat and Patrick or Allie and Noah, there are certain elements of rom-coms that rarely (probably never) happen in real life.

1. The meet-cute

She drops her books. He helps her pick them up. Your dogs get entangled in each other's leashes. Probably not how you will meet your next boyfriend or girlfriend.

2. Opposites attracting

You hate each other. In romcoms, somewhere along the line, that passionate hatred turns into passionate lust, which consequently turns into a passionate relationship. In real life, you probably hated each other for a good reason. And though that intense hatred might turn into a little bit of lust, it's probably going to be hard to turn into a relationship.

3. Really romantic rain

In romcoms, rarely do people run inside when it's raining, but usually just embrace it as an opportunity for a romantic make-out session. Their makeup will remain perfect and they don't worry too much about their clothes getting soaked.

4. Falling in love with your best friend

It happens in real life, it does. But there is rarely a moment like there is in romcoms when you look over to your best friend and realize the love you've been looking for was right under your nose all along. Most of the time, these thoughts enter your head because you're suffering a bad break-up or it's late and you've had a few too many. And often, your best friend is your best friend for a reason.

5. Choreographed dancing

In real life, a flash mob takes a lot of planning, not something everyone at the prom instantly knows.

6. Makeovers that transform you, instantly

Usually, these makeovers are pretty effortless and don't really change that much, like taking your dorky glasses off in slow motion. But they take the person from never noticed to off the charts hot and always make everyone love them, instantly.

7. Dramatic entrances

Usually comes after the makeover. Though I'm sure some heads turn when you're walking into a room looking good, rarely does a spotlight on you (and on your crush) as you walk into the party.

8. Love at first sight

Okay, we've been there: you see someone across the room, they see you, and your heart skips a beat. But in real life, there's a lot more that goes into it than that one glance.

9. Running through the airport

We have TSA now. Also, they would probably just text you.

10. Showing up at your window

Don't throw rocks or knock on my window. It's just creepy.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
