10 Good Summer Reads For Young Women
Giana Asterito

All throughout my life I've been a reader; the summer is the best and most convenient time for young women to dive into books. I for one, am a sucker for romance novels and thrillers. Heres a list of titles that I can promise no woman could dislike. Warning, the descriptions are vague, but it's only because I can't give away too much

1. "Water For Elephants"

This book by Sara Gruen later became a movie starring Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon but I'd say that the book was a hundred times better. Gruen has a way of pulling in her readers with the love story of a runaway Cornell student and a carnival performer.

2. "Crossfire" Series

These books are absolutely breathtaking and by far one of the best series I've ever read. Gideon Cross is a billion dollar man who swears he will never fall in love, until Eva Tramell comes along. A fifth book to the series One With You was just released and is just as amazing.

3. "Rush" Series

These three romance novels are connected together through the three brothers who they're about. Each novel is about how each of the three brothers found their perfect match, although all three of them have some heavy baggage. This particular series is very explicit, but its for sure a page turner.

4. "Blood-law" Trilogy

The Blood Law trilogy is strictly fiction, so if you're not into Fantasy then this series might not be for you. But, I can promise that if you give it a try that you'll love it. This series by Karin Tabke is both extremely thrilling as it is heart pulling about two brothers who are also half Lycan wolves fight over the same human girl. They're not the only ones who are after Falon, but for reasons that you'll have to read about...

5. "Hopeless" Series

THIS TRILOGY- IS SO AMAZING. Honestly, I've never had books that made me want to turn the pages so fast. The romance story is so twisted but Colleen Hoover has a way with words and will have you crying just a few chapters in.

6. "Fifty Shades" Series

Theres not much I need to say about these, they're pretty well known and everyone has their own opinions on them- but I enjoyed reading them. Also, the book Grey in Christian's point of view wasn't a bad read, either.

7. The "Titrone" Trilogy

Again, another Fantasy/ Very Fiction series. A love story (I told you I liked romance novels) about a merman named Reed, king of the ocean, who falls for a human woman but their worlds conflict and it makes for a great series.

8. "Pulled Under" Series

This book is a little younger-aged based but still a good beach read.

9. "Thoughtless" Trilogy

This particular series is one I just finished and is my favorite of all time, I've never had books that made me so emotional in my whole entire life. Seriously, don't read these in public. S.C. Stephens describes betrayal, lust, love and life so beautifully throughout these novels and never missed a beat when it came to keeping things interesting. You never find out everything in one chapter so you must continue- and its worth it.

10. "Milk And Honey"

I actually haven't read this one yet, but recommended by my best friend to read. I included it in here because I've seen snippets of some of the poems that are inside, and all it looks pretty promising.

A lot of these novels have the same theme going for them but all of the authors have such different writing techniques but pulled me in all the same. I hope you enjoy these as much as I did!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
