The time to put away the shorts and bring out the jeans. Autumn has finally come upon us. September marks the beginning of fall, which means it’s time to prepare for apple picking, hiking and of course, Halloween. There’s so many different things to do during fall. Here’s just a few to get you started planning activities for you and your friends!

1. Pumpkin Picking

Pumpkin picking is so much fun, I’ve done it my whole life. It’s gets you in the Halloween spirit and makes your house look spirited as well.

2. Pumpkin Carving

I’ve never been good at pumpkin carving, however, it’s always fun to try to figure out what you want to do and how to do it. The end result is always interesting too, whether it comes out how you expected it to or not.

3. Apple Picking

Who doesn’t love apples? Apple picking is not only a great time, but also you get fresh fruit to eat and make pie out of!

4. Going Through a Corn Maze

Or should I say getting lost in a corn maze? Once, I spent 2 hours in a corn maze with 2 of my friends trying to find our way out. Even the man who was supposed to help us if we got too lost couldn’t find his way without cutting through the corn. Even though you will probably end up getting frustrated with your buds at one point, it makes getting out that much more satisfying.

5. Hiking

Fall is definitely the prettiest season (at least in my mind). Not taking advantage of hiking is a crime. Also, it’s not too hot and not too cold to be outside for a while. And you can definitely get some great pictures out of it.

6. Horror Movie Marathon

Get in the Halloween spirit with your friends by getting together to watch a bunch of scary movies like Insidious or fun Halloween classics like HalloweenTown!

7. Football Games

Even if you don’t like sports much, going to football games with your friend group is a blast. It’s one of my favorite things to do in fall, and it’s always good to support your school!

8. Trick-or-treating

Two words: Free. Candy. You’re never too old to go around getting candy. We’re even doing it in my dorm building.

9. Go through a haunted house

I find it fun to scare yourself and your friends. Or to find a really tame haunted house and just laugh at failed attempts to scare you. Also, it makes for a pretty funny snapchat story, right?

10. Hay Ride

There’s so many farms that offer these during fall. It’s so much fun and usually pretty. You’re bound to make some fun memories while sitting on hay bales.

Any of these are a great time during fall, but you can also do something simple, like go get pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks, or just hang out in front of a fire during those colder nights. Have fun this fall!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
