Being in college is not easy. On a day to day basis we encounter difficult professors, homework assignments and papers that make us want to rip our hair out, studying for tests, and tons of other responsibilities that come along with the college lifestyle. College takes a tole on everyone but no one really mentions the fears that come along with it. College is literally an episode of fear factor you literally never know what you might see, do or eat. Even the simplest thing scares me while being away at college, probably because I don't have my mom there to hug me and tell me everything is going to be ok. But thats just college, you live you learn and even though were supposed to be grown ups we get scared of stuff sometimes right? Right.
1. Showering without flip flops on.
This is by far my number one fear/nightmare. I think if I ever even heard about someone showering without flip flops on I would pass out. This may sound ridiculous to some but seriously i genuinely fear my feet touching the shower floor.
2. Waking up in the middle of the night and remembering you forgot to do an assignment.
Nothing is worse than that moment of sheer panic when you remember an assignment that is due the next day in the middle of a deep content sleep. You are either the type of person to actually jump out of bed and pull and all nighted to complete it, or you care way too much about your sleep to move and just decide to take the L on this one.
3. Sitting alone in the caf.
This gives me actual anxiety. I don't think I will ever reach the point in my life where I feel completely comfortable enough to eat alone in the Caf.
4. Being sick.
Being at school alone without your parents to take care of you can be so scary. You literally are suffering alone. No one to make you soup or saying stay home ill call you out sick. No. This is the real world. You will be getting your own soup and going to class even if you may be on your death bed.
5. Failing a class. Or Failing out.
Just the thought of actually failing a class or failing out makes me feel sick to my stomach. Ive never failed a class but just the thought makes me put my blood sweat and tears into a class just to avoid this.
6. Running out of meal swipes before the week is over.
If you are a student living on campus and you rely on the caf for all of your meals, meal swipes are essential. Now if you don't use them wisely you could run out before the week is over and that my friends is tragic. You basically have to face the facts that you may starve from this moment in time until the following Monday.
7. Giving a Presentation.
If you are overly confident and can give presentations like a boss I envy you. But for some of us it is our biggest fear. Getting up in front of a class and talking about things honestly freaks me out. Talk about a panic attack am I right ladies and gents or am I right.
8. The first day of class: Knowing no one in the class.
OK so the start of a new semester is approaching, what does one do when you sit down in class and know not a single person. The whole making friends thing... not my favorite activity. But you know its crucial so you force yourself to say hi to someone.
9. Running out of money.
This happens way too often. College is a struggle even more so when you are broke. Those weeks when you literally have $2 to your name. Yea, very familiar right. Welcome to college my friends.
10. Having no idea what you want to do with your life.
This is probably the biggest fear in the back of most of our minds. Unless you are super set on what you want to do and have everything figured out if you are that person kudos to you. Please feel free to lend a helping hand to half of us who still have no clue.
