The 1990s seemed like such a wonderful time for film. Some of my favorites movies came from the 90s, a place in human history that will always hold a place in my heart. Here are some of my personal favorites that I could never get tired of from one of my favorite eras.
10. Titanic (1996)
An obvious classic for an obvious reason. James Cameron has spun a beautiful and tragic romance into a real life tragedy that everyone knows.
9. Fight Club (1999)
This is a common favorite among 90s movies as it should be. I think I speak for everyone when I say, the ending to this is one of the greatest plot twists in film history. I think I also speak for everyone when I say, thank the heavens for Brad Pitt.
8. Romeo&Juliet (1996)
Speaking of babes in 90s movies: Leo DiCaprio. This is an interesting spin on one of the most known and classic Shakespeare plays. The film is set in modern day but the dialogue is spoken in shakespearian, not changed far from the original script of the play. Leo's performance somehow makes this tragedy even more traumatic.
7. Seven (1995)
Another fantastic Brad Pitt movie with a mind blowing twist. I mean, how much better can a movie get with a cast of Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Spacey? You really can't.
6. American Beauty (1999)
I'm sure there are people who find this movie creepy and unorthodox, and while it may be odd, it is still a great movie. The focus of the movie should be on Lester's transformation and not the dynamic between he and his daughter's friend. All in all, a touching movie.
5. City of Angels (1998)
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Its a beautiful love story where Nicholas Cage is an angel in New York City that falls for a doctor, Meg Ryan. This is a film that will speak to me deeply for the rest of my life and has taught me what true love can be. WARNING: this will make you cry if you have a heart at all.
4. The Matrix (1999)
Who doesn't love The Matrix? This was the start of an era of film about technology based apocalypse and the implications of this movie are still very prevalent today. Plus, this movie is absolutely bada**.
3. Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Shawshank is based on a novel by Stephen King. This film is a great rendition of the novel that tells a story about a wrongfully accused man sentenced to life in prison at Shawshank. This is just one of many great Stephen King movies everyone should see.
2. Pulp Fiction (1994)
This is probably my favorite Quentin Tarantino movie ever. It focuses on three major stories that all mix and converge at the end in a mind-blowing and wonderful way. Tarantino is a master of his craft and this might be his best work. (All I really want is to be as cool as Vincent Vega.)
1. The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
My favorite movie of all time! This movie has it all: mystery, romance, a little bit of gore, a guy wearing another guy's face, and the classiest, most well-versed and smooth serial killers that's ever existed. I couldn't possibly count the number of times I've seen this movie but I will never get tired of watching.
