As much as college students love college, they also love break. Fall break, Thanksgiving break, Christmas break, Spring break, Summer break, those random government holidays we get off... we'll take'em all. And even though we complain the entire time we're at home and wish to be back on campus, we're secretly soaking up every second we get to spend in the house that made us. Yes, we love our freedom, but we also love spending time back under our parent's roofs every once and awhile. Here's why:
1. No Class
Obviously, during break there is no class. This is the first correlation college students make to the word "break." No professors, no lectures, no walking 20 minutes across campus from your 9:30 to your 11 A.M. This is important and relates to the next two. Remember this one.
2. No Homework

Now, this one is kind of 50/50. There are a few breaks (mainly Thanksgiving and Spring break) where professors seem to forget the true meaning and spirit of "break" and assign work to be done... but if you're lucky, there will be no such work. Another way to not obey deadlines and not have to think about school.
3. Sleeping In
Not having to wake up for an 8 A.M., 9:20 A.M., 11 A.M... enough said.
4. Family Time
No matter how far you may end up living away from your family for college, whether it be two hours or seven states away, missing them is all the same. Leaving never gets easier and the distance always seems further. So, thinking about uninterrupted time with your parents or parent or siblings or sibling is a rewarding thought that pushes you through the hell week that is finals.
5. Pets
Reuniting with your furry best friend thats been by your side since as long as you can remember. Few things are better than that.
6. Friend Time
Break is when everyone comes home and is back together again. It's kind of a high school reunion of sorts, so you avoid some and seek out some. The point is, you're back with your best friends from high school before you all went your separate ways. You catch up, reminisce, and just downright enjoy each other the way you did before everything suddenly changed.
7. FOOD
No paying for food because your mom is making it. No fast food because your mom is making it. No dining hall food because your mom is making it. And for those of us in dorms, being able to walk straight to the kitchen to cook, instead of taking the elevator to the first floor community kitchen.
8. Working
For those who don't work during the semester, going back to their old high school jobs that still let them fill in when they're home and give them a month worth of paychecks is one of the best Christmas presents a college student can receive. Every little bit counts.
9. Presents
Being able to sweetly asking your parents for every single thing throughout the semester that you've wanted and couldn't afford is a Christmas miracle. I have secret intel that detailed PowerPoints are the best way to go.
10. NYE
Last but not least, celebrating one of the best holidays of the year with your best friends that have been there through it all. Ringing in the new year with a glass of whatever you may prefer, depending on how rough the last year was, reminiscing on the best memories of the last year, and toasting to the new year being a little nicer to ya'll than the last.
