Like any new chapter in life, moving away to college and being on your own for the first time is one of the most amazing experiences, but it also comes with many complications. I know I, for one, have truly come to appreciate more than ever all that my parents have done for me growing up. So here are 10 things all college students can relate to:
1. Having to wake up for 8 a.m. classes
Just because high school starts at 7:30 in the morning, does not mean that you will be able to get out of bed for an 8 a.m. in college, especially because you'll most likely be up studying and doing homework until at least 1a.m. Trust me, 8 o'clock rolls around quicker than you think.
2. Making time to do laundry
I really appreciate my mom taking care of this for me while growing up because now my dirty clothes pile up until I literally have not one piece of clean clothing in my closet or my drawers.
3. Spending your paycheck on adult things
I can't remember the last time I treated myself to a little shopping spree. Unless the grocery store counts? Now any money I earn goes to food and gas.
4. Snow days are rare
Oh there was a blizzard last night? Well the sidewalks are plowed so you better bundle up!
5. Finding time to do fun things
Although the work load in college is much heavier than high school, having fun is also very important! However, actually finding time to do said fun thing is harder than you'd think.
6. Struggling to find a close parking spot
And when you FINALLY get one, you may never use your car again.
7. When caffeine fails to work
Sometimes, you just have one of those days where no matter how much coffee you drink, you just can't keep your eyelids open during philosophy.
8. Trying to make time to go home
Especially if you're someone like me and you go to school five hours or more away from home, this is one of the most difficult things to do. Plus, one weekend is so short it barely cures your homesickness!
9. Fitting the gym into your daily schedule
I learned the hard way how important this is. Quit telling yourself you have no time... there's always at least 30 minutes to spare in the gym or even just a quick yoga sesh in your dorm room!
10. Balancing social life, job(s), family, friends, school work, etc.
And the thing college students everywhere can relate to the most. Whoever came up with that triangle is crazy. The decagon is much more accurate.
