Coming home after a year away at college is always a difficult transition, especially after your freshman year. After just finishing my freshman year and coming home for the summer, it has been both hard to adapt to some rules after a year of freedom and a relief to see some familiar faces. So, here is the transition back to home told by some of our closest 'friends': Joey, Phoebe, Chandler, Monica, Ross and Rachel.

1. Seeing your friends for the first time since winter break

Admit it, we all go a little crazy when we see them for the first time.

2. Seeing your family when you first walk in the door

They are all excited to hear about your experiences the first day home. On the second day, it's like you never left.

3. Sleeping in your bed for the first time

Don't lie. It's the best sleep you've had in months.

4. Seeing your pets for the first time

If I'm being honest, I missed my pets more than anything.

5. Hearing countless questions about if you're dating anyone yet

Note to all family members: don't ask; we don't want to hear it over and over again.

6. Finally being able to take a shower with NO shoes

If you lived at college: BEST feeling ever.

7. Realizing you don't have to wake up for 8 a.m. classes for four whole months

If you have never had an 8 a.m. class, do you really even go to college?? This past semester I had an 8:30 a.m. class = no fun.

8. Realizing you actually have to make food if you're hungry and can't just walk to the dining hall

Wait, I actually have to know how to cook food???

9. Sneaking back into your house with the squad after missing curfew

Since when do I have a curfew, Mom??? I'm in college now.

10. Saying goodbye to your college friends is a lot harder than you imagined

Even after just one year down, I have met some of my best friends who I know will last a lifetime.

After just my freshman year, the transition from college back to home has been frustrating but also a relief. It's a great feeling to see familiar faces after a stressful year but it's true when they say that college is the best four years of your life.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
