10 Classic Snapchats | The Odyssey Online

If Snapchat was a person you could say that they grew up extremely fast. First launched in 2011 under a different name and then re-launched in 2012 with the name Snapchat you can see how far the application has come.

Starting out as a simple photo messaging app, today you can send money to your Snapchat friends, as well as record videos, and get your news/ read articles on your favorite brand and companies.

For regular Snapchat users, the app is a way to communicate with your friends with out having a formal conversation. The drawing and text ability allows for hilarious creative imagery and feeling like you're with your friends even if they are across the country at another school.

Whether it's a mad Snapchat, a no make-up-but-your-comfortable-with-the-person Snapchat, a Picasso worthy drawing or the temperature, I think everyone can relate to these ten classic Snapchats:

1. The Temperature.

Ok I may be bitter, and when I chose to go to school in the Midwest I know I had this coming but I am so over this weather. So yes, if you are on my Snapchat friend list, you will probably be receiving multiple Snapchats of the current temperature and a strongly worded caption. I am sure everyone is familiar with this Snapchat and have sent it to people before. It could also be the other way around. The smart friends who chose a warmer climate school and respond back to our cold weather snaps with the enjoyable warm weather they're experiencing are definitely contributing to our bitterness towards this winter, but we still love them.

2. GeoFilters.

Like the many other cool and new features of Snapchat, Geofilters are one way to show you friends what's up. As soon as your location is picked up, GeoFilters add a little excitement to your snaps.

3. Flawless.

Classic. Bey's I woke up like this has inspired people all over. Guys and girls now use the class line in their Snapchats to add a little humor to their friend's days.

4. Going out and I have an 8 am.

I would give you an award but I don't have enough for all the Snaps sent on the daily that include some caption like this. Whether it is a video or a picture, the classic Snapchat that is either a close up selfie or a dark, loud, video. These people are letting you know that they have to be up in five hours but their friends “dragged them out."

5. Food.

Now that we can send money through Snapchat, the next innovation should be food. Another classic Snapchat is copious amounts of food. Whether it's a late night Target run haul or a fabulous weekend brunch, we have all received/sent the classic food snap.

6. The Picasso.

We have all seen or created those impeccable masterpieces that look like they took hours to draw. The drawing feature on Snapchat is basically an excuse to ignore all you responsibilities and draw just like we did during computer time in elementary school.

7. The gym.

Sweaty selfies, a potential love interest stalker photo (lol), you and a person emoji with the caption “bae and I working out." We have all been there and anything to take our mind off the painful experience that is working out we all take and receive these Snapchats.

8. The time.

Been there, done that. When we have to be up early or have pulled an all nighter: cue the time Snapchats.

9. The rollercoaster video.

No, not an actual rollercoaster but the classic Snapchat that is literally nauseating to watch. The recorder doesn't realize that they are going to need to provide their Snapchat friends with barf bags because their shaky recording skills are not up to par.

10. Classic Selfie.

The group shot of everyone you're with.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
