10 Careers I Wanted As A Child.

Childhood was a weird time...

10 Careers I Wanted As A Child.

So we all know the struggle of choosing what you want to be when you were a kid. I had so many careers to choose from, so I was extremely overwhelmed. There are some people that are in their 20s or 30s still trying to decide what they want to do in life. I’m approaching college soon and I am so excited to start my path of success. Before choosing my final major, I was basically a mess.

1. POLICE OFFICER

My mom is a police officer and when I was younger I wanted to be just like her. I then discovered it was dangerous and I don’t like running, so that dream was thwarted.

2. TEACHER

When I was in second or third grade, I thought school was so easy and I actually liked it. I wanted to make other kids like school the way I liked it too, so I decided I wanted to become a teacher. That dream was squashed in fourth grade when we had “Teacher for a Day” in my class and I was the teacher. It was such a mess that I still cringe about it to this day.

3. ACTRESS

I loved the Disney Channel so much when "Hannah Montana" and "Wizards of Waverly Place" were still on air. I even auditioned for a few plays and musicals in school, but then I discovered I had a bit of stage fright.

4. SINGER

So I thought I had the best voice ever, until I recorded myself. You know that thing where you can’t hear yourself like others hear you? Well I recorded myself one day and I discovered I was EXTREMELY tone deaf. I was so bad and yet I wanted to live my dream of being like Demi Lovato or Miley Cyrus. Ten was such a weird age.

5. DANCER

I am not a good dancer at all, so when I thought I could do it professionally I thought, “HECK YEAH I CAN DO THIS!" but I don’t like any physical activity so then I thought, “nah fam."

6. VETERINARIAN

I LOVE ANIMALS. Looking at my list of “maybe” majors now, being a veterinarian was pretty high up on there. I just don’t think I could ever look at any injured animals because I would cry for days.

7. LAWYER

So I kind of like to argue my point a lot, so I thought I would be a really good lawyer. Not to shame on lawyers or anything, but I just thought it would be way too boring for me because I am not a serious person and I always laugh when things get too serious.

8. NURSE

I wanted to help people, and what better way than to become a nurse? Nursing was also a high contender on my final list of “maybe” college majors, but I just didn’t have the passion. I knew if I went into nursing school, I just wouldn’t be happy.

9. CARDIOVASCULAR TECHNOLOGIST

I love technology and so I wanted to combine helping people and technology. I searched for so many careers until I found, Cardiovascular Technologist. It is using imaging technology to help physicians diagnose heart and blood vessel ailments in patients. This dream was squandered when I fell out of love with the medical field.

10. CYBERSECURITY

My final major! I am actually going into the Cybersecurity field. What made me want to do cybersecurity was my love for technology and computers. There is such a high demand in the field and being a woman in a field full of men makes it kind of difficult, but I'm up for the challenge since I’m extremely competitive.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
