10 Career Paths I Wish I Could Take

Unfortunately, I don't have the discipline (or skills).

10 Career Paths I Wish I Could Take

One of the biggest parts of college is deciding on your major and, consequently, your career. I've struggled with identifying my career goals for ages, and even now I'm still not sure what I want to do. Before entering college, I drew up a list of possible professions and possible majors and possible careers. I've definitely narrowed that list down a lot, but I'm still pretty open to where I end up. Regardless, I do have a list of things that I would definitely do if given the chance, or if I possessed the talent or motivation.

1. Singer (or just part of the music industry)

I love music, and I've always wished I had the talent and ability to actually sing for a living. It would be incredibly fun and creative, and I would absolutely love it -- if I could sing, that is. I would also love to produce music or manage musicians. Who knows, maybe the latter one could happen!

2. Actor

Again, I have absolutely no acting talent. But if I did, I would jump at the chance!

3. Professional blogger

I don't have the motivation -- or patience -- to keep up with a daily blog. I wish I did, because I do have a lot of interests that I could write about. But gathering a fanbase and writing a blog is way too much work.

4. Artist

I'm an art aficionado; I love art and art history. But I definitely don't have the talent or resources to become a professional artist. Plus, it's such an unpredictable and unprofitable field.

5. Politician

I would love to be able to enact real change in society, whether it's through helping people or helping to govern a town or city or state. But although I'm interested in politics, I don't have what it takes to actually be a politician.

6. Professional athlete

As a former competitive athlete, I know what it's like to consider your sport your life. If I were talented enough, I would love to be able to compete as my job.

7. Research scientist or doctor

Unfortunately, I've never been the most adept at science in school, and I definitely don't have the aptitude to be in the science field as a career. But I would enjoy helping others or researching diseases to develop cures.

8. Fashion designer

I love fashion. I'm not the biggest fashionista myself, but I love following the happenings of the fashion industry and reviewing designer collections and runway shows. If I had the talent and creativity, designing fashion would be my dream job.

9. Chef

Unfortunately, I don't have the aptitude to be a chef, and I don't know that much about food. But I would imagine that it's an incredibly rewarding career, and its one that I could see being a real passion.

10. Author

I love books and reading, and I've always wanted to write and publish a book. (Who knows, maybe this could happen?) Unfortunately, I don't have the time, talent or patience to write a novel. But it's always something that I'll be interested in.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
