10 Things to Thank Your Boyfriend For

It’s true that girls can be crazy and hard to figure out, so from my brain to my boyfriend and yours…here are 10 things you probably should thank that special someone for.

10 Things to Thank Your Boyfriend For

1. Thanks for tolerating me when I take way longer to get ready than I planned… Some days getting out of bed is way harder than I planned, so thanks for understanding when our 10:30 plans don’t actually start until noon.

2. Thanks for watching all of my shows with me… I know you aren’t a huge fan of Grey’s Anatomy (even though you secretly might be kind of into it), so I appreciate you humoring my addiction and pretending to be interested.

3. As an extension to number two, thanks for watching endless Disney movies with me…

Now this may not apply to everyone, but I’m a huge Disney addict, so thanks to MY boyfriend for being willing to spend a lazy day watching animated movies with me, even if it may be kind of lame.

4. Thanks for teasing me a little bit sometimes…

I know sometimes I get mad about your sarcasm and the jokes you make at my expense, but you’ve taught me not to take myself or life too seriously and I’m thankful for that.

5. Thanks for taking care of me when I’m sad…

Whether something happened or I’m just having a rough day, you always seem to know what I need, which is crazy because sometimes I don’t even know. So thank you for talking about it when I need to, holding me when talking isn’t working, and supporting me non-stop even when you’re a hundred miles away.

6. Thanks for being my best friend…

Trust me, I suck at the whole friend thing. I’m not good at making plans, keeping in touch, and everything else that being friends with somebody requires. So thank you for texting me even when I think I don’t need it, and never letting me off the hook when we make plans.

Also, thanks for bringing me to hang out with your friends. Even though I used to hate it, it really helped me to branch out and gain an even stronger support system.

7. Thanks for believing in me and always making me feel on top of the world…

This year I’ve gone through a lot of questioning myself and you’ve never stopped telling me you’re proud of me (even if it’s just for going to class). You always pick me up when I’m down, and make me feel like the most beautiful, capable girl in the world.

8. Thanks for taking me on adventures…

Even though I suck at making decisions about things to do, and sometimes Netflix sounds the most appealing, you are right, “the world is our oyster” (even though I hate when you say that). Some of my favorite memories are of our adventures; from camping in Bumblef*ck (aka Starved Rock) to getting me to swim in the quarry, thanks for pushing me out of my comfort zone.

9. Thanks for sticking around…

I know the distance isn’t easy and sometimes things get a little bumpy but thanks for sticking by my side for the past year and however many days (Who’s counting? Clearly not us…)

10. Thanks for being my person…

I know I already thanked you for being my best friend, but you deserve an extra thank you for being my person. You’re one of the few people in my life outside my family that I know I can always count on. You understand me better than most people and we have too many memories and inside jokes to count. I know that no matter what happens, I can come to you with anything and I’m so thankful for the amazing person you are and everything I've learned about myself and the world around me from you.

To quote Mr. Peabody and Sherman, “I have a deep regard for you,” so thanks for everything you do, and just being you.

Love,

A Thankful Girlfriend

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
