School is out and the long days of summer stretch before us and who wants to spend their summer the same old way that they always have? Not me! Here are ten ideas to get you up and moving this summer while making new memories and having the time of your life.

1. Plan an outdoor movie night

Why sit on the couch to watch a movie when you can take the show outdoors? An outdoor movie night can be fun for a special event or as something to just break up the monotony of summer. Pinterest has a ton of awesome ideas to help you plan your own night.

2. Go to a local state park

In my opinion state parks are the unsung heroes of the summer. They have so much to offer with hiking, swimming, fishing, boating, picnic areas, playgrounds and a variety of free outdoor presentations. To find a state park near you check out the National Park Service for a map of the parks in your state.

3. Have a cook-off

Bring a bit of healthy competition into your summer with a cooking competition chopped style. It can be a ton of fun for everyone involved and as a great bonus everybody (hopefully) gets some awesome food at the end!

4. Make some s'mores

Who doesn't love this perfect blend of melty chocolate and marshmallows? They are the perfect thing to make any night feel like a special occasion. If you are feeling a bit extra adventurous try some of these new spins on the old time favorite.

5. Plan a pick up sports game

Grab the family or a group of friends for an impromptu game of your favorite sport. It is a great way to get up and moving and have a great time.

6. Go stargazing

Take some time to just relax and enjoy the world around you. You can grab your favorite pickup truck to lounge in or just a few blankets, go to an empty field, and have fun! Whoever sees the first shooting star wins!

7. Take a mini road trip

Find a town or tourist attraction that s within a couple hours of where you live and be a tourist for a day! If you don't know what to try go on a web search. You may be surprised what you find to do that is close to home. Go and find your summer adventure!

8. Enjoy a rainy movie day

A summer rainstorm does not mean that the fun has to stop. When you are confined to the indoors lighten the mood with a lazy summer afternoon complete with a movie marathon. Grab your favorite movie series or a season of your favorite show, some snacks and friends and settle in for the perfect afternoon.

9. Find a local festival, fair, or concert

Many communities will offer a ton of free or non-expensive events throughout the summer including fairs, concerts, plays, festivals and more! Check out what your community has to offer by checking out the chamber of commerce webpage for your town.

10. Find a sunny spot and just enjoy it

Leave yourself some time to layback and just enjoy the sun with a cold drink and a good book (don't forget the sunblock!).

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
