To all my friends that I made in High School, thank you.
Thank you for all the wonderful memories we created. From the car vlogs and sleepovers, to the tears of our last game day, choir performance, and theatre production, I will always have these close in my heart.
One thing you may not realize is that you helped shape who I am. You helped build me. You taught me that whenever someone falls, we pick them back up and tell them to try again. When I went through something, you were always there for me. We were friends. It's what we did. No matter what age, we were always there for each other.
Many of my friends have been lost over the span of four years. For those, my heart breaks to know our time was short. God knew we needed others to show us what you couldn't. So for that, I am so grateful. If he wouldn't have separated us, I don't think I would have the other friends that I met after. But the things you have taught me have showed me how to be stronger and more courageous. Thank you for showing me that I can do anything. We had our ups, we've had our downs. Thank you for the memories while they lasted. You will always remain in my heart.
I've gained many friends in the past four years; many being through classes, extracurricular activities, and by being a friend-of-a-friend. I wouldn't trade those friendships for anything. The sleepovers, the tears, the gossip, and the laughs were shared together... not alone, and that is what makes our friendship special. No one will know me the way you do. I am grateful for you. You showed me that creating friends was easy. You showed me that people can be so kind and welcoming, but shy at first. You taught me to build a stronger relationship with others, and not to be too quick to judge by one's first impression.
To all my younger friends that I've made within these four years of high school, I will always cherish how we became friends. You were younger and I was older. It was kind of scary at first because I didn't know how we could be so close with the age difference. The way you came into our friendship circle was so warming. I knew from there that I would love you. Some will say you look up to us, older kids, but little do those people know, I looked up to you. I wanted to see you succeed, not fail. I wanted to see you rise to the challenges I couldn't face. And when you did, I looked up to you like you were a giant and I was a mouse. We wanted to be you. I am so happy you and I are friends and built that relationship with each other. You are like my little siblings, I may not like you some times after we get into an argument, but know I will always protect you like you were my little siblings. That's something I learned from all the older friends I had. You turn into family.
To all my older friends that I made fun of for being older than me, the baby, thank you for being so kind and welcoming. Thank you for giving me a chance to show you how we could build a strong friendship. You were like my big brother/sister. You always cared for me when I felt like the world was crashing down around me. You always congratulated me on my successes. I feel like I took that for granted, and for that, I'm sorry. You were always the first couple of people I called or texted when a problem arose. I felt like you would know everything I was going through and know how to help me in the best way possible. Our time spent with you was very limited as we both have to part our ways for our lives after high school, but I will never forget the times we shared when you were here with me.
So here's to you. You made me, me. You taught me to love like family, laugh like no other, and to cherish every memory spent. Here's to you and every heart you touched.
To all my friends that I made in high school, thank you for being you.
