Thank you, Findlay Commons, for giving me Fresh Express and Roxy's, and never forcing me to eat in the actual dining commons.

Thank you, to my floor laundry room, for teaching me that people suck at time management and that only one matching sock will survive.

Thank you, communal bathrooms, for allowing me to pick a favorite shower and a favorite stall even though they're covered in vomit on Saturday mornings.

Thank you, East Halls residents, for keeping me up until 3 AM the one Friday I stayed in first semester.

Thank you, East Halls, for providing me with the Creamery just a few yards away.

Thank you, elevators, for holding me hostage on more than one occasion.

Thank you, East Halls, for teaching me the best and most respectful way to get rid of my roommate.

Thank you, East Halls, for giving me study rooms that are so close to my bed.

Thank you, guy who plays DDR, for quality study break entertainment.

Thank you, paper thin walls and amplifying outlets, for introducing me to my neighbor's terrible music taste.

Thank you, Findlay Commons, for all the free food when my points were running low.

Thank you, bus stop, for being the greatest convenience I could ever ask for.

Thank you, East Halls, for being so close to Beaver Stadium.

Thank you, East Halls, for asking me if I was sure I wanted to throw my trash in the landfill and making me recycle.

Thank you, Penn State WiFi, for working when I needed to do work and for failing when I needed to watch Netflix.

Thank you, Good2Go, for bumpin' better jams than the frats.

Thank you, White Loop stop, for teaching me patience on Friday nights.

Thank you, my jail cell, for providing me with a bed, a desk, a closet the size of a box, and nothing more.

Thank you, Stall Stories, for the quality bathroom entertainment.

Thank you, Findlay Commons, for never judging me on Friday nights or on Saturday mornings.

Thank you, East Halls, for being so far from everything and keeping me in shape.

Thank you, East Halls, for being my best and worst friend.

Thank you, East Halls, for making my freshman year a blast and providing me with the perfect start to the best four or five years of my life.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
