What I hope to do with my life

Everyone has things that they hope to accomplish by the time their life is over. Having a long term set of goals can help you to stay on track and work towards the things that you hope to achieve. I have been able to come up with a list of goals that I hope to fulfill throughout the course of my life.

1. Being a role model for others

I hope that I can be a role model to at least one person in my life. Whether it is my child, a coworker, or friend, I want to be able to impact the lives of others by empowering them to be their best.

2. Having a successful career

Whether we want to admit it or not, working ends up being a large part of our life. I hope to make it more enjoyable by finding a job that I love and am great at. I hope to become a nurse one day and continue to strive for better in my career.

3. Having a family one day

A long time from now, I would like to be able to have a happy marriage and be able to be a mother. Family is very important to me, so I would like to have a little family of my own to nurture and take care of. I want to be able to give love to my husband and my children.

4. See more of the world

In my short almost 19 years of life, I have not been able to see much of the world. I have not even been out of the country. I want to be able to find away to explore more of what this world has to offer and step out of my own culture.

5. Be less fearful

I am someone who lives in constant fear of just about anything that is out of my comfort zone, so I would like to eventually be able to continuously try new things, even if it seems impossible.

6. Show kindness every day

I want to be able to let kindness guide my words and actions, even on days that it seems impossible to do so. I want to be able to make others happy and help them in any way that I possibly can.

7. Strive to learn new things

Finishing my undergraduate career will not be the end of my education. I want to be able to continue to go back to school as long as I can afford it. Even if I don't end up going back to school, I hope to learn new things just from new experiences in life.

8. Lead a happy life

I want to be irrevocably and unapologetically happy. Though some days will be hard and challenges will constantly be thrown my way, I hope to be able to overcome them and find happiness in the small things.

These are just a few of my never ending list of goals. As my life continues, I hope to accomplish these goals as well as add new ones to the list. I don't want to be fixed in these goals, but always striving to do more. I hope to be able to look back at the end of my life and see that I was able to do these things.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
