Zootopia's Life Lessons

What could we learn from these clothes wearing animals?

Zootopia's Life Lessons

Zootopia came out March 4th of this year. Disney really outdid themselves with this cute animal movie. And I would like to say now; if you haven't seen this movie then 1. you need too and 2. There might be spoilers below so beware. I don't want to ruin this amazing movie for any of you!

Let me first tell you what this movie is all about. Judy Hopps is a bunny that wants to help change her world. She becomes a cop. Everyone underestimates her. But she shows them that not everyone is as they seem. The good guys can turn out to be bad. And the bad guys could actually be the hero. Also anyone can be whatever they want to be, no matter who they are.

This movie made me feel inspired. A friend and I watched this movie a week ago or so and when it ended, I was like I have to share this. There are a lot of things that Judy, the Bunny goes through that someone in real life goes through at some point in their lifetime.

The case of the missing Otterton turns out to unfold the bigger mystery that Judy uncovers. Why are the animals going savage? And why are most of them predators? Mr. Otterton goes missing along with 14 other animals. So Judy blackmails a fox named Nick Wilde, the local con artist to help her. And with Nick's help, she solves the case.

But along the way, Nick and Judy run into some trouble from Nick's colorful past with the crime lord, Mr. Big. They almost die until Mr. Big's daughter comes in and recognizes Judy from an earlier scene where Fru Fru (Mr. Big's daughter) was almost crushed by a sign in the shape of a donut. Judy saves her, making Mr. Big indebted to Judy so he kinda sorta helps them out.

"We may be evolved, but deep down we are still animals." Mr. Big tells this to Judy. This is as true for her as it is for us. We may be evolved, but that doesn't mean we aren't humans still. We make mistakes, we love and we hate. We live and we die. But that shouldn't stop us from achieving what we want in life. Have you ever heard the saying if you fall, get back up and try, try again? We, as humans, have our own way of life no matter what.

The world isn't perfect. We think it is, because that is how we all have grown up to think that we have to be perfect. The truth is that nothing is perfect. Our faults make us who we are. We all have a job just like Judy did, to help our world any chance we get. We have police, firefighters, doctors, they change lives everyday. But we can too.

We can be that person to help the elderly lady across the street, help someone find their lost pet, or just by being there and hugging someone who looks like they need it. Our world has never been perfect, it has been broken from the beginning. We are the glue, the patchwork, the thread that helps it stay together.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
