Friends come and go; it’s inevitable. Sometimes the ones that you thought were going to be around forever end up leaving at unexpected times. Other times people end up in your life and you would never have guessed it. Even with all the people that come into your life, you're going to know when you've found the real ones.
1. You're not going to have to pretend to be anybody else around them.
They’re going to see through all your masks and know the person you truly are. They’re going to love you for all of your qualities and all of your flaws. They’re going to push you to become a better version of yourself, but also make sure you don’t lose any of the qualities that make you who you are.
2. They’re going to support you in whatever you do.
They’re always going to give you advice (mixed with their personal opinion) but ultimately stand by you no matter what happens. They may not always agree with what you’re doing or how you’re doing it, but they will always be with you at the end of the day.
3. There won’t be any secrets.
You’re going to be able to tell them whatever is bothering you, without fear of hurting their feelings, and vice versa. In fact, you’re going to start expecting nothing but the truth from them. They’re going to tell you the truth all the time, even if it’s not what you want to hear. Their problems become your problems and their secrets become your secrets.
4. They are going to be there when nobody else is.
When the world turns its back on you, your real friends will be right next to you. When you have those days where you don’t feel like getting out of bed, your real friends will show up in your room to cuddle. When you feel like there is no hope for a brighter day, your real friends will shine a flashlight. Through thick and thin, your real friends will be there no matter what. You're stuck with them and they're stuck with you, but that's honestly not a bad thing.
They say that true friends are few and far between, but once you find those true friends, you’re in for a lifetime of happiness.
