YouTube has become a place where people can make a living making videos. It is a format where people can share their creativity, ideas and opinions in a way that entertains people.
Some of the biggest names in YouTube are Dan Howell, Phil Lester, Markiplier, JackSepticEye, VanossGaming, Tyler Oakley, Pewdiepie, etc. The list goes on and on. Recently, the name Nicole Arbour has been circulating around the internet and news.
Nicole Arbour, self-titled "comedian," makes what she calls funny videos that often target a certain theme, idea or group of people. One of her videos, entitled "Dear Fat People," have people going crazy, and for good reason. If the title doesn't clue you in, this video is all about fat people. Nicole Arbour spends a good amount of time ranting about how her life is affected greatly by fat people. Her comments are extremely offensive and rude, and she makes a point to say that her comments are not aimed towards people who have health issues that cause them to be obese. She makes the comment, "What are you going to do? Chase me?" and then proceeds to make a joke about how obese people are like the walking dead. In fact, she makes a lot of jokes that to her seem to be hilarious, when in fact, are just really bad. She also says that fat shaming isn't a thing, that fat people made up that term, and that even though it isn't a thing, we should shame fat people because that might help them lose weight. She then goes on a completely different track and starts talking about racism and homophobia, which we won't get into, because again, what she says is completely offensive and rude.
Aside from her hateful, negative and rude comments, Nicole doesn't exactly have the best editing skills. Her video has a bunch of random jump cuts with her acting things out or making bad jokes, none of which are funny in the least. It was hard to even make it through the video to watch it because it made me cringe so much.
Needless to say, YouTubers reacted to this video. Nicole has been put on full blast for all her comments by other YouTubers, and she was even brought on "The View" to be interviewed. On "The View," she claimed that it was all one big joke and that what she said wasn't offensive, but Whoopi and the rest of "The View" cast were not buying it a bit. It was very important that it did get talked about because it brought into view hateful things that were said, and Nicole was publicly held accountable for what she said.
If you think you want to watch the video, I suggest you don't. One thing that lots of people don't realize is that by watching these terrible videos, you are just giving the YouTuber that made the video more views, which is not what needs to happen. They shouldn't be getting any views for their hateful comments. I do suggest, however, that you watch some YouTubers reaction videos if you want to get the chance to see what Nicole had to say, along with the internet's response.
