7 Things I learned from Making Youtube Videos

Don't forget about me when you become famous!

We spend a lot of time watching YouTube videos from our favorite YouTubers. Sometimes we laugh, cry and cringe, but something always brings us back to Youtube. 2 1/2 years ago I decided to make a youtube channel. I'm not completely sure why but I just wanted to. There was a small part of me that though I might get famous from being on the Internet but isn't that many people's dreams. From those 2 1/2 years and 500 subscribers later, I have learned quite a lot.

1. Quality over quantity

When first starting off YouTube, I wanted to make a new video every week and I did. It did become a lot to handle at some points because I also had a job and school to worry about, but Youtube was always something fun I could do. Keeping a schedule of when I was going to post was fun but after a while, it seemed like doing a chore. If you can't come out with a new video every week that is ok. You don't have to upload every day or every week. As long as you put in effort into your video and make it how you want then it's going to be amazing.

2. Sometimes you won't see automatic growth

I know that some people can upload one video and automatically gain over 1,000 subscribers but don't feel sad because of that. Some people just get lucky. You need to push through and try your best with everything. Eventually, you will find your audience and be people who totally want to watch your videos.

3. Don't get discouraged

Like before sometimes people will surpass you with fewer videos than you. Sometimes some of your videos won't do well. Sometimes they do. Sometimes you have a streak where your videos are doing well and sometimes you'll have a streak where they aren't doing so hot. Nothing will be perfect but have fun while you're there

4. Don't do it for selfish reasons

I know we all want to be famous and make money but we have to start off small. Don't do this just for the money or fame. You are on a platform that others will watch. You have a voice and platform that can help others and be a voice for others. Use this for good not for what many others use it for.

5. Be yourself

I make a fool out of myself consistently. My videos shouldn't be taken that seriously. I just want to have fun and be myself. Don't try to be like anyone else because this is your channel and your videos. You are You.

6. Have fun

It is so much fun to make silly videos with your friends and families. It's a great way to look back and see what fun memories you made. So have fun with it. Laugh and make those memories!

7. Remember me when you're famous

If you do get famous and get a following don't forget where you started. Don't forget the people who helped you and who were there from the start. Those are true fans and you shouldn't leave them in the dust.

YouTube is a place to have fun and be yourself. Don't forget that as you make your videos. You might not be famous but you will have tons of memories.

Also if you want to check out my channel it's OMG Becky. I know, super original!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
